Protecting your curls when you sleep
Most people don’t need to put a lot of thought into how they look or what they’re wearing when they go to bed, but that’s not the case for people with curly hair! Before I started my research, I never realized how the way we sleep can greatly affect our curls. If one doesn’t take the proper steps when sleeping, all the work they put into their hair earlier that day can be lost! I’m going to share with you some things I’ve learned in regards to sleeping with curly hair! First thing’s first, buy a satin or silk pillowcase. Regular, cloth pillowcases create friction against your hair, which results in frizz. Instead of a pillowcase, you can also buy a silk or satin cap! Another tip is to tie your hair so that it sits on top of your head, this way your curls are less likely to move around loose their definition. This method is called the pineapple! When using the pineapple method, be sure to loosely tie your hair, allowing it to breathe, preferably with a large, satin scrunchie. Let me know what methods you use when you sleep!Â
