IN A DREAM.

it’s late in the day as sam makes his way through the company, he’s tired and part of him considers just heading home as he doesn’t really have any other reason to be here but yet here he is. a rolled up script in his hand and drink carrier in his other. the two bubble teas lightly bump together as he walks and he probably should have been more careful but he wasn’t paying much attention to them. 

a grin pulls over his lips as he finds the person he’d been looking for. yes, sam probably should have messaged her or something first to find out where she is. and maybe make sure she isn’t busy. but well, he’s never been the best at planning and has already put in motion his current mission.

ah, kids. 

in his short time on earth sam has been around younger kids enough to know he isn’t a big fan of younger kids. he knows he was once a little kid himself and from the stories his parents as well as alec tell sometimes, he knows he wasn’t the easiest child to handle. sure, he hadn’t been tantrum throwing and wild, but still. his youngest cousins are still under ten and since he’s been in korea he hasn’t actually seen them since they were still toddlers but sam can recall how chaotic it was being around them.

he was hoping this baby sitting thing didn’t end up like that. the teen is still not too sure why he signed up since he has never been big on kids but here he is. at least he has alec with him. a grin forming over the teens face as he turns his eyes onto the older male near by. 

currently the kids were supposed to be having a calm, art moment. which had meant they were seated at the tables with colors and paper set out before him. sam sitting with two of them and the other three seemed to have taken to his hyung which makes sense. alec has always been a good babysitter--though sam likes to give him a hard time, he really does adore the older. but he wouldn’t be park samuel if he didn’t give alec a hard time. “hey hyung, take a look at this.” he called out, not getting up due to the toddler who had situationed himself in sams lap to color.

the producer had called for a short break and sam was grateful for that. though there wasn’t really anything physically taxing about this, his own nerves were starting to get to him. the teen was so desperate to do a good job for his first roll that he’d imposed such high expectations onto himself. typical of sam as despite the image he may give off ( a relaxed, cool guy ) he is very much a perfectionist at heart. 

he needed to find some kind of outlet for all this nervous energy. if he wasn’t worried about messing up his hair or makeup he might have taken to running laps. or even just busting out into a dance. alas, he didn’t think it would be a good idea to get all kinds of sweaty between takes. he’s sure the stylists would have words with him if he did. thus, he decided on a different corse of action.

“waaaaaa... there’s so much technical work put into acting.” the teen lets out a drawn out breath as he stretches his arms over his head. another workshop done and another day of cramming information into his skull. he’s trying to pick up as much information as he can so that he won’t be as behind when cram school filming starts. worried he won’t be able to do as well as people expect of him for the show. 

a pout forms and his arms end up wrapping around youngmin who was just within grabbing range. a tight side hug as he directs his puppy dog gaze onto the older. “hyunnng~~.” he whines, drawing the word out. “you’re so amazing, would you teach this kid how to be as great as you?” is he trying to butter youngmin up to get free food out of him? maybe. but he also does just want some kind of attention and perhaps advice on acting.

having been in the company now for a few years sam hadn't actually thought he would ever end up following his acting dream. He kind of assumed he would end up debuting in a group on the basis that he had been signed for his dancing abilities. it wouldn't have been bad to be an idol after all he does very much enjoy dancing. But his real goals have always been acting, to be able to bring different characters to life for the big screen. he had never given up on that dream he was just fine doing as the company wanted.

so its a little bizarre to find himself finally on the path of his dreams. When he was told he was going to be switching into the acting path sam could have cried ( almost did cry ) and now here he is. “"Do they do workshops like this every trimester?” sam questioned alec as he followed the older at the end of the workshop. His very first once since switching paths. its so wild..

the sports festival was full of fun and excitement. things like this are always right up sams lane as he loves to be involved and let out his energy. though he might seem more on the laid back side of life, the teen still very much has large stock piles of energy stored up inside. it’s how he manages to train so much ( even if he does tend to get scolded for being out later than he should be ). but just imagining getting to be wild at a sports festival... ah, so fun.

“hey dad.” sam suddenly speaks up, a playful smile pulled across the teens face as he leans across the table closer to ahin. the two of them having paired up for the fan gift and honestly same was ecstatic to be working with the older. it’s no secret he adores ahin hyung , after all. 

it’s been a few years since he joined the company and never once has he been worried about being suddenly kicked out. for all the times he likes to claim chaos as his hobby, the teen hasn’t ever actually been chaotic. not to the point that he thinks he would get into trouble for doing something. maybe there’s some nights where he stays out too late and sure he’s been scolded during training for slacking. 

so when he’s called to the office he doesn’t really find himself worrying. he hasn’t done anything lately to warrant being in trouble? unless they didn’t approve of his halloween costume but then again that was months ago yea? with this thinking he’s relaxed as he steps into the office, bowing politely to the ceo and the other women. he’s looking at them curiously when hyuncheol speaks and he finds his eyes widening. 

“you’re moving me into acting?” he asks out loud, and flushes a little at having interrupted. he lets her finish but he can already feel a smile breaking across his cheeks. “i look forward to working with you! thank you very much!” he bows again, deeper this time and barely keeps himself from running out of the office. he can’t believe he really truly got switched into the acting path.  

The weeks of performances have been chalk full of excitement for sam who does find a lot of thrill in dancing like this. While his goal may be acting, he would be lying if he said he didn’t greatly enjoy dancing--after all, he’s worked his butt of to be a good dancer. One that’s good enough to not only get signed but to continue to be apart of the company with each passing year. 

This life style is hard work and exhausting and right now it has very little reward despite everything--but he’s pretty sure he wouldn’t trade it for the world. 

Of the weeks and each theme they would dance too, sam had been trying to figure out which one is his favorite of them all. He’s never been one to have just one style of dance he sticks too. That’s too restricting--leaves the door closed on learning a lot of different dances. 

So it’s been a heck of a lot of fun getting to do a different one each week. Dancing, like any art, is one that takes expression and dedication. He knows this and he lives by this. Like he does with acting practice as well, the teen knows that if he wants to make it in this life he has to work hard and he always does. Seeking help for the dances that he was struggling on, staying up late and coming in early to work on the dances.

When the legacy instructors judge him on his abilities he wants them to see improvement, and to know that he’s going to keep it up.

The day of performance he isn’t nervous--not really, and sam is someone who doesn’t get nervous all that often anyway. No, he’s just excited. Ready to stand on the stage and give it his all. Which is exactly what he does. 

the casting call announcement goes up and sam is quick to figure out everything he needs for it. he’d started recently thinking it’s time for him to start working more seriously towards his goals which would mean to take part in things like casting calls. auditions, and the like. after all how is he to get experience if he never tries? and this show is one that his dear hyungs youngmin and alec took part in once--he watched every episode, yes he did. the idea of getting to take part in this one, and maybe with them, is what spurs him forward to the audition.
