The man before him started talking, and the Master detected a sudden change of aura. He was barely listening to the story Mr. Benson had to tell, he had heard those way too often. There was something else, something about the man himself that had caught his attention. He eyed him carefully; now he looked just like all the other apes, whiny and unstable, despicable. If he had walked into his office like that, the Master wouldn't have deigned a look at him, but that was exactly the point. The sudden change of aura in the room was due to the sudden change of the man's personality. His face was different now, the aloofness was gone. Something wasn't right... Was this man telling the truth? He sure looked like he did, and the way he described the robbery sounded veracious as well. After Mr. Benson had finished narrating, the Master hesitated a moment to answer. If this was one of his usual clients he would've been harsh and insensitive, just for a tiny bit of sadistic enjoyment for a change in the boring life of the friendly Jason Miller, but he had to test this man first, so he decided to keep up his act. "I'm sorry to hear that, Mr. Benson. Unfortunately more people than you'd think experience this. The crime rates in this city seem to be getting higher, and we're not really sure what that's down to. It's quite unlikely that they'll come after you again, those gangs are usually only equipped for street robbery, not for breaking into a house. I cannot guarantee anything though, it'd definitely be advisable to get an alarm system if you haven't got one already.” He walked over to a table to get a piece of paper, then went back to his desk to write something down. “It'd be helpful if you could describe all the men to me as best as you can. Later on I'm going to send you to my colleague to create a facial composite. If you remember any of their weapons that would be helpful as well.” After a short pause he went on, “you look like a man who's familiar with guns.” The Master said that casually, but with serious intention. This man didn't look familiar with weapons at all, the traumatized expression on his face was suggesting that he'd never even touched a gun. But this was to test his reaction. “Oh and have you tried tracking the phone already?”

Things Better Left Unsaid (The Master & Irene)

The Master had to retain himself from raising an eyebrow as Irene described the Doctor. Apparently he had regenerated during his absence - the Master had expected that anyway - and obviously his taste in clothing had become worse again. The last time they had met he'd looked at least a little presentable... "I see. That sounds a lot like the man we're looking for actually. Under which circumstances exactly did you meet him, and did you meet him more than once? How well do you know him?" He tried to ask all this without sounding too interrogating. "We're not sure if or how dangerous he is yet. But even if he hasn't stolen the statues himself, he is somehow involved into the case."

A Fatal Reunion || Moriarty & The Master

Stinton looked horrified, still not understanding the situation in the slightest. “J-Jason? What’s going on?” he asked wide-eyed, the phone still in his hand. “Hang up Stinton, we’ve got a change of plan” the Master ordered, his expression and voice serious. His collegue mechanically did as he said, not really believing that Jason Miller would turn against him, not believing that Jason Miller might be a criminal. That he might be a killer. The Master was still pointing his gun at him, but he didn’t pull the trigger. Scotland Yard might be full of dull apes, but they’d still find out which gun had killed Stinton. They’d find out who had killed Stinton. And the Master was planning to keep his nice little undercover working place a little longer, as well as his nice little undercover life. Apart from that… “Jimmy boy” he said in a sing-song voice, his serious expression suddenly vanishing, being replaced by a grin. “I’m sure your men can take care of this. I…” He let his gun slide back into his pocket, snappily turned around and walked up to Moriarty, his mouth close to his ear. In a lowered voice he continued. “I don’t like getting my hands dirty, you know.” Then he moved back a bit to face him with a smile and raised eyebrows, sure that Jim would understand. He’d always been like that. When it was about killing, he had always preferred to watch, rarely ever to do it himself.

The Master watched Jim closely as his fingers swiflty moved across the phone. Only a few seconds later Stinton literally was a dead man. "Sure thing," he answered, a grin spreading across his face as he snapped the lollipop out of his protégé's hand, twirling it once, twice, before stuffing it into his mouth. He looked at Jim for a moment and started laughing slightly, not the fake complimentary laugh he had to put on for his colleagues at Scotland Yard, not the bitter sneering laugh he gave people when he was about to ruin their lives, but the kind of laugh that suggested that he was truly enjoying himself, the kind of laugh people do when they're having fun with old friends. "Oh Jimmy," he gripped his shoulder and gave it an encouraging squeeze. "It's been quite a while. Look at what you've become. I have to admit I'm kinda proud." And for once he was not lying. "How about a drink to talk about good ol' times?" It felt good to finally take a break from being Jason Miller.

Alan/Master: Meeting A New Friend

He eyed the boy closely, noticing his every move. Asking himself once again if this was really happening, if this was really another living timelord standing in front of him. He’d find out more about him soon enough, he was almost there. The Master pushed away the mixture of questions, curiosity, excitement, and disbelief. He needed to pretend that this was of lesser importance than it really was, not only to deceive Alan, but also for his own good. He’d never be able to keep up the act if he’d let all those thoughts have him. “I have no preferences, actually. You choose.” He said and smiled, by now having unconsciously mirrored the lad’s posture by putting his hands into his pockets as well. “How about..” he aimlessly looked around, “..pizza, maybe?”

The Master let Alan lead the way as they started walking. "Of course! I work at Scotland Yard just around the corner actually. I'm a detective." He said that with some sort of encouraging smile and a hint of pride in his voice. Because Jason Miller loved his job a lot. In reality this job was a pain, so painfully boring at times that the Master was surprised by himself for keeping up with this shit and not having burned down the whole building already. "It's quite an exciting job," he added and casually went on. "What about you, I take it you still go to school. But any job ideas for the future already? Which grade are you in?"
