how you got to develop such an expressive style?

I simplify shapes. my brain always tells me "start drawing a bunch of details, make it look complex and stuffed with details-"

I cut her off, and I say NO, how can I mare my drawing more SIMPLE instead? do I actually need this curve? what if I cut it off? *snip* YEAASS, much better, the shape clear. now, what if I stretch this limb? I know it will not make sense anatomically but we're having fun here, so- AND THE POSE BECAME SO COOL AND DYNAMIC YO!!!

and like that, the drawing starts to look complete, and complete = beautiful

so, my advice for anyone who starts to draw and want to develop a style "similar" to mine:

1. think of your character like they actors on a stage of a theater. they must speak the emotion and action using their whole body, and their move/pose/whatever-they're-doing must stay readable even if you see only their silhouette

2. your eye should always analyze the entire drawing, and not just this eyelash that you are drawing right now. spare the details for the moment the entire POSE of your character start to make sense and look beautiful on its own, while being a simple mannequin. THEN you start drawing the eyelashes

I have this ask with tips, it's kinda old but still relevant

"where do you get your inspiration from?"

I have some ideas and themes I'm ready to ramble about none stop and I explore them in different characters and own my OCs

poorly written media that has great potential always drives my imagination crazy and boosts my motivation to come up with something myself and draw it

also my supportive gfs are huuuge inspo for me

"will there be more fanart of [character's name]?"

I draw fanart for fun and if you see me quitting drawing certain character it probably means, that I simply ran out passion for them💔

I keep my mailbox closed most of the time, but not because I don't want to talk to people but because usually most of those asks are drawing requests and I can't draw requests because I lack free time for that, so when I see one I get frustrated

I can disappear for a week or two - either at this time I'm very busy with irl things or I am preparing a large pack of drawings, an animation or a comic

sometimes I draw commissions

I don't draw requests. I wish I could have afford myself such generosity but I simply can't. that is also a reason why I often keep the mail box closed

what is your story with art and animation? it's simple, really. I was drawing and trying to animate since childhood. I went to an arl shool, on my free time I was learning basics from YouTube tutorials and making small animations time to time. my biggest inspirations were digital artists, YouTube animators and undertale animation memes then I got to animation college, where my mentor helped me hone my skills I'm still far from perfection! I get better and learn something new every time I draw or animate something

🔸Mak (DoodleDrawsThings) - the way I often design my posts as large sketch packs is because of them. I LOVED it when Mak used to make those with his A Hat in Time AUs. also the way they explore the dynamics between characters is a chef kiss

I used to hate those. it's hard for me not to get annoyed by them, especially when there's NOTHING to suggest that there's anything problematic going on in the comic

like DUDE WHAT MADE YOU THINK THIS WAY? WHAT'S GOING ON IN YOUR LIFE/MIND THAT A BASIC INTERACTION BETWEEN TWO CHARACTERS IS ALREADY A SHIP MARKER FOR YOU???

then a friend of mine told me that, you know, there's actually A LOT OF ACTUAL SHIP STUFF with these characters. you just happen to hang out on a normal side of the internet (inside your own bubble, if you will) and you don't see any of this crap, so you don't even think about it. but other peps, they do often run into such stuff, and they just ran out of strength to dig into each individual author to see if they're up for problematic shit or not, so they crave for simple safe markers such as "not a ship" disclaimer (let's not think about how these disclaimers themselves can be abused to mislead people, that's a different story)

maybe there is a part of truth, I dunno, maybe some of these people really are just that........ "clueless"? I guess, I now have a better understanding of this type of comments, but they're still annoying. I am sorry for peeps but not enough to put "not a ship" disclaimer in my own comics, because I promote the idea of using your brain to ANALYZE stuff and think for yourself if it's a ship or not
