BIOGRAPHY (Trigger Warning: Teen Pregnancy, Alcoholism, Death)
Google white trash and you’ll see a picture of Levi Maddox. Born as a result of a teen pregnancy, his birth father was out of the picture before his mother even realised she was pregnant. Leah Maddox tried her hardest, but she wasn’t fit to become a mother, and it was obvious. Living in a trailer on the edge of a small town, he grew up under a cloud of rumours swirling about the small town about his mother and who his father could’ve been. His mother remained silent, at least on the subject of his father.
His mother’s antics though would never end, constantly partying and drinking, coming home with a different man each night. Levi was constantly left alone, where he would often learn to fend for himself, for a while. Eventually, his mother found herself pregnant once more, and he met his younger sister. He was fiercely protective of her, and tried to shield her from the worst of the insults that the town could throw at them. He was an outsider, avoided at best, and he wanted better for her, trying to not let the people in town drag her down.
He felt lost, an outcast, until he met her. She was the good girl in town, and no one would have ever thought that he would catch her attention, but somehow he did. They were not a good match, he was too closed off from a life time of being let down by his mom, yet unable to cut her off completely. Each time his mother came back he let her into his life, and each time she let him and his sister down.
After high school, they married, leading to the whispers in town that he had gotten her pregnant. They were happy, at first, with his sister living with them. His wife in college, he bounced from job to job, each more meaningless than the last and the tensions grew between them. He turned to drinking to cope, refusing to try and do anything with his life beyond this town, never feeling good about what he could do with his life. He was twenty when he came home and found her packing her bags, and within minutes she was gone.
She sent divorce papers, but he stubbornly refuses to sign them, wanting to prove that he was a better man than she thought he was. He began to learn carpentry, having always been good at it in school, and put his younger sister through high school. Once she was gone to college, he began to move around, trying to find a place to settle down. He eventually acquired a houseboat, after creating his own business making and selling his furniture designs and creating custom furniture. Now, he’s settled in Maine with an aim at setting up a home base for his furniture business. Still married, still keeping tabs on his wife, and still trying to prove he’s a decent man.
