ok like yeah. yes. this is true. i dont really like when authors jkr dumbledore their characters but i dont think that's really whats happening here. i do think this is supported by the text considering the op was asking for clarification on actual lines of dialogue in the story.. his sexuality is absolutely ambiguous on purpose because well it just makes sense for him. his views on sex are really radically different than other characters' because of his upbringing and associated trauma.. i think he's bi in the way that if you asked him he'd say "idk man i just fuck"
esp considering that james sa corey are 2 straight white guys who (while they try to be mindful & respectful, and have many diverse characters,) maybe don't really know why having a vague sexuality for a character isn't as progressive as they think

i talked about this w/ aiken and lucas last night but i think the way the expanse handles the topic of consent + intimate and sexual assault is so well done. the books and novellas present a lot of different ways consent is violated and i think it's really refreshing that it tackles it tactfully and respectfully. like, there are certain instances that a lay man might not immediately recognize as being a form of assault, and while the books are really good about letting the reader infer these kinds of things, it lays out in plain terms that this is 'intimate assault' and actually explores that idea. i want to say more but i'm really tired

as much as i love characters like desmond and marius no character has compelled me so much as amos. like genuinely every aspect of his writing makes me crazy he is so well executed and tailored to make me insane. i feel completely nuts talking about him
