as it is the month of june, i decided it was my solemn duty to put june rouclere in a situation. corresponding hurt/comfort for bosco and charlie will be coming next!
hi hello any discussion on which chocolates the ponies got when atlas took them for chocolates in antwerp. which pony thinks fruit flavors are the best chocolate pairing. which pony has a nut allergy. which pony left the shop with their pockets stuffed with stolen candies. vital topic
what an incredible ask. i am not a huge chocolate person myself so i expected i wouldn't have a lot of thoughts on this but. turns out i actually do.
first off, my longstanding june headcanon that is based on absolutely nothing but is never the less very deeply-held by me is that she really loves cherry/berry flavored things. the more artificial the better, usually, but her anwerp pick is cherry cordials. she is also the main shoplifter here. despite atlas paying, if a store has a little display out with a few easily-swipeable items, they're really just asking for someone like june to swipe them.
charlie i think is the type of guy to pretend to be into dark chocolate because it's more sophisticated, especially because he's sort of panicking to try and look casually cool in front of atlas right at that moment. which is not to say that he dislikes dark chocolate, it's just that he prefers, like. a regular snickers bar. luckily, june knows this, which is the other reason why she took a few milk chocolate truffles from the display for him specifically. also he likes chocolate with nuts but avoids them because bosco has a nut allergy.
bosco is not trying to be cool in front of atlas, he is trying to be annoying. he has a garbage palate (this IS canon; he drinks budweiser) so he doesn't really care about which chocolates he gets, taste-wise. he is picking the ones with the longest names and pronouncing them badly instead of just pointing. later charlie tells him, hey, you know you picked two with peanuts, right? and bosco's like well, i picked them for you (he did not). bosco's favorite ends up being the espresso-flavored ones.

also to be fair to my tags on lrb much of my ponyposting has migrated to dms and such these days. but there the aus range from "what if the ponies adopted kittens" to "what if the ponies got radiation poisoning."

btw i genuinely believe that bosco and june were written as a canonical couple in like the original script and that sort of got watered down (well. to the general viewing audience that is. i know the truth.) and until someone gives me an original script i will continue to believe this.
