in some ways i completely understand the media silence around the reunion. it’s a legacy thing, it’s them not wanting to give click-bait ad revenue to media outlets that fucking tore them to shreds and mocked them and us when they were still together. it makes sense. it’s a little bit of self-defense and a little bit of vengeance. i Get It. 

but i, and i think a lot of other people, are getting frustrated by the silence. because it isn’t about playing stupid interview games with journos or leaking the full story about why and how they chose to get back together. it’s about explaining to US - the FANS, the people who buy the albums and buy tickets and still listened to the band for the six fucking years they were broken up - what the hell is happening with the reunion. 

in a couple of weeks it will have been SIX MONTHS since they announced the reunion. and we’ve gotten a show (which, hey, i definitely watch on youtube weekly and cry about occasionally), a couple of cryptic videos, some weird tweets, and that’s it. and maybe the timeline got screwed up by the pandemic, or we’re playing the long game - but the more time passes, the more confused i am about what the fuck this … is. 

i don’t want it to be cash grab. no part of me even wants to consider that it could be a cash grab. this band means a whole fucking lot to me, both personally and artistically, and the idea that this could be for money disgusts me, and i mostly refuse to consider it. but the longer we go without anything … 

i don’t want the full story and i mostly don’t care. a little mystery keeps it sexy. but i don’t understand what this is. is it a reunion tour? are they actually Back Together In The Way Bands Are Typically Together, That Is, Are They Going To Release New Music??? i don’t need the full blueprint, i don’t need the inside scoop. i just need to know … something. something that lets me adjust my expectations and not set myself up for emotional failure here, you know. except for when they directly reference the fact that they are back together, it doesn’t feel like they’re back together at all, and i’m getting tired of it.
