Assorted Deadlock clothing thoughts I pondered at work this weekend 🔥🔥🔥based on my fallible knowledge of 40s clothing
Mina and Arin are both used to tailored and often designer pieces. Some of Mina's clothes she made herself. She knows the trends so she can replicate them exactly with a twist — to make it clear she's "with it" but also better than you.
Pocket has a good taste cultivated by years of nitpicks from their mother and father. Very reliable at putting together a solid menswear look but has not explored or considered much outside of that. Nowadays, their clothing is whatever they can get — often off the rack pieces in lost and found. Worst mending skills out of everyone listed here until Mo & Krill get their hands on them, lol. Pocket didn't have a sewing kit with them when they left home. It just didn't occur to them.
Lash is the definition of body type as fashion. Most of what he owns is work wear that is exclusively practical — any "style points" are fringe benefits. Pretty much all of it is from catalogues. Nothing he owns is tailored. Do not ask him to assemble an outfit with more than 3 pieces or his lack of skill will become obvious fast.
Paige is a fashion girlie masquerading as a comfort first girlie. A lot of her clothes she's made or altered from catalogue pieces, often to make them a little trendier. (Paige voice) No mom the skirt has to be this short it's for mobility!!! Yes I saved the fabric!!! I'll let it back out afterwards 😒
Doorman is annoyed and fascinated in equal parts by quick-moving fashion trends. He doesn't like being poked at for tailoring so he did it once 30 years ago and just keeps wearing the same things over and over. Prefers classic mainstays over trends but he's not always 100% on identifying what reads as classic versus old fashioned lol. He wore a long night shirt to bed until someone told him that's like, so last century. Mostly gets by on the same uniform forever ❤️
Infernus is like lowkey into clothes. He's not a fashionista but he likes to be well dressed. It's a useful tool to take control of how he's perceived, both as a reformed criminal AND ixian. Gets a lot of deals through bar clientele. I just feel like he has a relationship with his millener. More familiar than most with the use of runes in clothing due to the whole fire thing. Mix of catalogue and tailored pieces. Very reliable mender.
Abrams figured out a formula that works a decade ago and has just kept doing that. His clothes ARE actually tailored — because they have to be!!! He's too large for catalogue options which also don't account for his tail, and he lacks more than basic mending skills. Goes to an ixian specialist tailor. Dogshit at mending. He can sew a button back on but it sucks.
