Kassandra is a nineteen year old young woman from a nomadic tribe in the Savage Frontier.ย As Chieftain Lagados's only child she wanted to learn how to hunt and fight just like her father. But Kassandra was a daughter, and Lagados never deemed her good enough to take up the blade, no matter how much she pleaded.
Only her uncle, Thorek, saw her potential and taught her the art of the blade. As a younger girl, she sat with Uncle Thorek and learnt how to make metal sing, both with a hammer next to a forge and as a fighter. However, her training was cut short. When Lagados found out his very own brother betrayed his trust like this, he exiled the man. Kassandra was left without a single ally in her tribe, but things did not remain quiet for a long time. Mak'gora. Duel of Honour. An ancient tradition where anyone can challenge the chieftain for his position. Some hunter invoked the Mak'gora and duelled Lagados. Steel clashed against the snow, harsh blows. The hunter devised a petty trick to fool her father, dealing him a lethal blow.
Chieftain Lagados fell and then the hunter tried to take everything the previous chieftain had. He dragged Kassandra in her own father's tend, and nobody batted an eye. Mak'gora was sacred and a new Chieftain was in charge. As the young woman saw the familiar room litter with this coward's presence, and felt his hands on her face, her wrath rose and burned bright white. She bit him and drew the hunter's sword from his side, dealing him a blow, and then another.ย
She exited the tent drenched in the hunter's blood and wrapped in her father's prized white tiger pelt, and left her tribe. They were unjust cowards anyway. She'd prove them wrong. She'd be a warrior. But first, she'd had to reconnect with her uncle, her only family left.ย The White Huntress took on some contracts in the steep hills of Damara, but a brush with bandits left her half-dead. She barely dragged herself to a Selune temple, where a lady patched her wounds. Then that lady demanded to follow Kassandra in her quest. Weird lady. Her name, Helve.
It turned out the weird lady wasn't so bad after all. She cooked for Kassandra every night as they tried to find clues for Kassandra's uncle. She was maybe a bit too goody-two-shoes for her own good, but, hey, that lady was a cleric. Kassandra had no idea, but she thought all 'normal-folk' clerics are like this.
The two women travelled for a long time together, and Helve even taught Kassandra how to read and write. They discussed, and shared many meals and watches and dawns, when their steps led them to her Uncle's last known location: the Foglands. Foglands. A weird place. Some mist or something spread to the place, and kept spreading. Her Uncle went in, and word is nobody comes out of the Foglands. But she still needed him, so the two women ventured forth.
As it happens in dangerous places, they teamed up with a half-elf, Xenia, a cat-like lady who is a Tabaxi, Misty, and an annoying old man, Vincent. Hecking Vincent. It turned out he was a werewolf. And Xenia's sword talks to her and is Xenia's sister. And Misty's looking for a friend, who stole an old scroll. Oh, and top of all that, seems like Foglands is a stretch of land where a taint of sorts exists around a city people call Gravenhollow. The other cities have perished. People go crazy, and there's this dude people worship here, called The Saint, and commoners and adventurers alike give their very own blood to the Church of the Saint. And there's a Resistance around, but it does nothing. And they barely found any traces of her uncle, he's sort of missing, damn it.
And to top it off, Vincent went insane, and... ..and when Kassandra becomes upset, spirits of her ancestors gather around her. But worst of all? Helve.
Kassandra's one truth. The person who stuck around because she genuinely liked her. Hecking Helve is a freaking traitor, and was only following Kassandra around because she almostย KILLEDย her as a baby.ย What the f###, Helve?
