chrysopous:
“Velvet, I’d like to compliment you on the food. It was delicious.” Eleanor bowed her head in thanks to the chef. If she didn’t know any better, she wouldn’t believe the daemon didn’t have a sense of taste anymore. “The pirates are good tradesmen if they’re able to acquire such good ingredients. They are not what I’m used to, but I am willing to get to know how to use them better. Where … did you learn to cook?”
“You know your gratitude is wasted on me, right?”
Eleanor sure is a weird one, going out of her way to thank her captor. It’s not even like Velvet is being especially considerate or anything; she cooks because she needs all of them alive, Laphicet’s vessel included. If in following the recipe, she manages to manages to make something that they thinks tastes good, fine. But it’s not one of Velvet’s priorities, and it’s not like she would be able to tell either way.
“Anyway, don’t expect some grand story or anything. My sister just taught me what she knew a long time ago.”
