It really is funny whenever the stargate writers remember Jack is special forces with a lifetime of trauma and mild (understatement of the year) distrust for the government he has dedicated his life to serving. Because he will be all "Hey kids" camp counsellor dad of the year award and then SUDDENLY all the dad lore drops and you remember the little guy is actually kinda cool. Or he will be all jokey with Hammond and be like yea dudes chill and then SUDDENLY the little texan dude shifts wrong (just ever so slightly uncovering the deeper layers of corruption behind the curtains) and the light just dies in Jack's eyes. Honestly 100/10 character writing

I am on my xth rewatch, and in today's episode, he kidnapped a child for good reasons. But like. Still. Imagine in any other show, or hell, in this show, with any other character. Going against direct orders to give a little girl art class experience. And then, AND THEN, upon returning being like "I honestly don't care what you think, I did the right thing and I would, scratch that, I WILL do it again. I did all kind of shits for you, you won't do anything about it."
