WHUMPTOBER is a month-long, prompt-based creation CHALLENGE (think: Inktober, but whumpier). There are four prompts for each day of the month, giving 124 for you to play with! There is also a list of 15 alternative prompts that can be subbed in for any day to give participants as much creative freedom as possible.
All prompts are meant to serve as inspiration without being taken literally (e.g. you don’t have to include the exact wording of prompts into your work, so if you need to slightly reword a quote, that's absolutely fine). Feel free to run rampant on interpretation. For example, if the prompt is “flame", you could create something with reference to a candle/campfire/fire, your character could have suffered a burn, or the flame could be a reference to an ‘old flame’ - an old relationship. It’s truly down to you!
You can produce work in any media you choose, including but not limited to: writing, visual artwork, photo/video/audio edits, paper crafts and elaborate recommendation lists (not just a list of links). You can participate as much or as little as you want (i.e. you don’t have to do ALL the prompts if you don’t want to) and prompts can be used in any order. They are also free to use even after the event ends.
Please make sure to read the Event Rules and Info and FAQ carefully, as most of your questions will be answered there already. For everything else, you are welcome to come to our ask box or ask questions in our Discord server here.

I’m not in the community that posted this but if you’ve never tasted the bitter agony of searching for a pairing you’ve only just considered to find it’s like one dedicated author who has churned out like 69 slightly better than mediocre fics you don’t know what a rare pair is.
it’s funny how quickly you get desensitized to comic book nonsense like mister sinister is an insane name for a fictional character it’s so goofy but when i read his name i’m like this is not a laughing matter. we’re talking about cyclops’ traumatic secret laser beam eyeball orphanage surgery backstory. stop laughing.

She had assumed he just needed a temporary nest for the comfort, but would take some time to settle in before he would feel safe enough to build a proper one. At the very least, she'd assumed he would ask for more materials to build a proper one before his first heat in their household arrived.
How could she have known Kon-El hadn't even presented yet?
"I'm sorry!" Suzie sputters in panic, shaking her hands anxiously. "I didn't—I'm sorry, I didn't mean to—I'm really sorry!"
"S-sorry, sorry, s-s-sorry!" Kon chokes into his arms, still sobbing and sobbing like a fucking freak and a fucking moron. Like—Suzie's already apologizing to him, for fuck's sake, what's he even saying right now?! Just—j-just she—she's gonna leave him a-and—
"I'm sorry, I'm not—I'll stay, I'll stay!" Suzie says, shaking her hands anxiously again and looking even more panicked as the Super-Cycle trills in concern. "I'm not leaving or anything, I promise, I just thought Red Tornado could help!"
Kon buries a sob into his arms and curls up into a ball under the blankets, and . . . and under Suzie, kind of, so . . . so that's not on purpose, just . . . just . . .
"Sorry, sorry, sorry," he chokes again over and over and over, stupid and senseless and stupid about it. He—he just—
"I'm staying, I promise," Suzie swears, winding her arms around and spreading her smoke and fog over him as her voice goes tight and the Super-Cycle rumbles kind of—soothingly, maybe, or . . . or something, kinda. "It's okay. It's okay, I'm staying, I promise, you're okay, we're okay."
Kon actually curls up even smaller and sobs even harder over her saying that, which is just fucking stupid.
