In the reading “The Best of Both Worlds” by Sean P. Connors gave me brief understandings of what graphic novels are. Throughout the reading I learned both the good and bad about graphic novels. Though some teachers didn't find graphic novels useful at a certain point because they didn't have a lot of literacy included. Sean Connors hardly ever sees graphic novels as work of literacy. I honestly think that everything has its value no matter how short or vague it is. It all explains itself in its own way. I also believe that everyone learns differently. Another of Connors point was that students are informed about the shame devoted to graphic novels or comics. The author also points out that graphic novels should be seen as works of literary quality in their own way, but he also states that not all graphic novels have literary quality. What precisely is literary quality?

The desired result of this meme is to relate to the students when there’s a test coming up. I found this meme funny because that’s what I hope for when there’s a test coming up and just the pictures they included are funny. I could really relate to this. In the picture above his begging for the test not to be difficult and for it to be multiple choice. That is what everyone hopes for when there’s a test coming. At least most people could relate to this and find it funny. In the picture below the person’s expression explain it all. Also what it says below. It’s indicating how he doesn’t understand the question at all. Memes have really spread out through the past few years. Many people know about them and could relate or find them funny. All memes are different whether it’s from a cartoon or show or even just a funny picture. They all tell a story in their own way. I would have never imagined that memes had to do at all with literature.

In the article "Online Memes, Affinities, and Cultural Production" by Michele Knobel and Colin Lankshear talks alot about what memes are and how they interact in our daily lifes. A meme is defined as a funny/humorous joke that has a picture or a video. Throughout the article theres many different ways on how people interact or get to see memes. Its all spread out through social media. Since our generation uses so much technology mostly everyone can access and look at memes. Thats where the likes, views, and retweets come in place. Thats what everyone pretty much cares about, whether people like or if they follow them on any social media. The article explains what a good/successful meme is and what its made up of. All memes have different sense of humor depending on the audience. So my question is whether more and more people now know how to use atleast one kind of social meadia?

Many people still argue on texting influencing people's way of writing. From the article "Texting and Writing" by Michaela Cullington shares how texting influences a person's way of writing but it also talks about how it helps because it motivates students to write more when texting. Throughout the reading teachers complain and explain how students writing skills have dropped and they struggle when they write a formal paper. In the article the author states that teachers complain because "texting does not stress the importance of punctuation, students are neglecting it in their formal writing." So technically many students are forgetting the importance of grammar and punctuation and its affecting them in a way. I agree with that but then I agree more on how texting motivates students to write more. I believe that texting has a small affect on some students. From my experiences I don't think it affects me because I know when to be formal and when its appropriate to be informal. In the reading it also states that "Many experts would agree that there is no harm in textspeak, as long as students continue to be taught and reminded that a formal language occasion is not the place for it." I could both agree and disagree with the reading. Question: Do you believe there are more people being affected by texting and struggle more when writing an essay?
