Meme Analysis
This particular meme caught my eye, because this is what is defined as a problem today. We rely so much on our technology for our day-to-day practices that our phone chargers not being plugged in all the way could mean the end of the world. Ā This meme is trying to show the viewers a humorous way of not having the phone charger plugged in so the phone didnāt get charged all night and now it is going to probably die sometime within the next hour. The goal of this meme is to exhibit the feeling you would get when you realized your phone wasnāt plugged in. To relate to the anger and scorn of not checking to make sure the charger was plugged in. It is a good meme, because it is relatable to so many people. So many of us base our lives around our phones that with them not just being read for us by morning, we start to slowly loose our minds and have a mini panic attack and try to figure out how to go back in time so that we can tell ourselves to remember to make sure the charger is plugged in. This particular meme can relate very well to the changing world we are living in.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Yes, of course the words give the entire meme its purpose, but the picture of Kevin Hart making that face that is so widely known across the internet, gives this memes its edge. It gives it that humorous way of looking at it that pulls people in. If it was just the words or just the picture, it would be boring and not very many people would pay much attention to it. However, the fact that 1)it has Kevin Hart in it and people know that heās a comedian so they automatically know it will probably be funny 2) what it is saying is humorous combined with the scorn look on Kevin Harts face makes the meme humorous and 3) it is so relatable to people in this modern day and age that people look at it and think, āohh yeah Iāve done that beforeā, and thinks of the time when they got angry just like Kevin Hart and thatās probably what their face looked like too which makes it even more humorous to them . All-in-all, this is the kind of meme people can relate to and one that they feel is humorous and makes a good point.
The desired result of this meme is to relate to the students when thereās a test coming up. I found this meme funny because thatās what I hope for when thereās a test coming up and just the pictures they included are funny. I could really relate to this. In the picture above his begging for the test not to be difficult and for it to be multiple choice. That is what everyone hopes for when thereās a test coming. At least most people could relate to this and find it funny. In the picture below the personās expression explain it all. Also what it says below. Itās indicating how he doesnāt understand the question at all. Memes have really spread out through the past few years. Many people know about them and could relate or find them funny. All memes are different whether itās from a cartoon or show or even just a funny picture. They all tell a story in their own way. I would have never imagined that memes had to do at all with literature.
Online Memes RR
In the article "Online Memes, Affinities, and Cultural Production" by Michele Knobel and Colin Lankshear talks alot about what memes are and how they interact in our daily lifes. A meme is defined as a funny/humorous joke that has a picture or a video. Throughout the article theres many different ways on how people interact or get to see memes. Its all spread out through social media. Since our generation uses so much technology mostly everyone can access and look at memes. Thats where the likes, views, and retweets come in place. Thats what everyone pretty much cares about, whether people like or if they follow them on any social media. The article explains what a good/successful meme is and what its made up of. All memes have different sense of humor depending on the audience. So my question is whether more and more people now know how to use atleast one kind of social meadia?
