Work was frustrating today. My colleague who does fuck all played in a team football match last night, and was now chatting away with the other lads (while he continued to do no work). I think that he’s officially one of the lads now, so despite the fact that he’s a complete waste of skin, he isn’t going anywhere.
This also reminded me of how hard I had to work to be included when I first started, and how I’m still not really there now. It seems to be so much easier to be a lad: all that you have to do is play/talk about football, and you’re instantly mates. There’s also very little bitchiness, you either just have it out with someone, or it isn’t a problem.
What else happened today…oh yeah, another colleague spoke to a client, who apparently has over £180,000 in savings, but lives in a council house. She also works under sixteen hours a week. Anyway, someone had tipped her off to the council so she is now trying to cover her ass, because she doesn’t want to have to pay for somewhere to live. Fucking -
Things like this absolutely disgust me, she honestly needs to be shot. I’m working my ass off in a shitty job, but earning jack shit and barely covering my expenses. Yet there are people like her who are blatantly abusing the system. It’s no wonder that people look down on those who need benefits, because people like her are associated with people who genuinely need it. On the plus side, this was immediately reported to the compliance guys, so she’ll hopefully be sorted out soon.
And then in the evening, I came home for an appointment with the GP, the one who I was speaking to about feeling lost and hopeless. It only lasted for about five minutes because I’d improved so much since I last saw her, and she seemed really happy about what I’d been doing to improve my situation.
The last time that I saw her, I mentioned in passing that I liked photography, and apparently, her very next patient happened to be a photographer. So she put me in touch with him because it seemed like far too much of a coincidence, and I’m going to be joining him tomorrow to take pictures of the Christmas lights switch on in Morpeth. It was really kind of her to think of me, and I’m excited about the opportunity as well!
Anyway, photographed above is my dinner this evening, compliments of my Dad. I nicked @leonmaughan’s idea of taking a photo of everything that I eat and drink and I’ve been sending the pictures across to my brother. Leon’s lost a load of weight and he looks really good, and it’s proving quite effective so far. I’ve still eaten rubbish this week, but far less rubbish than over the last couple of months. It’s just knowing that someone’s going to be judging you that makes you think twice.
