Video and live streaming is becoming one of the best marketing tools for companies to market themselves. Smartphones and their great video quality have helped video and live stream grow so fast as well because it is as easy as pressing live video on social media or pressing record on your phone. As Max Wilbert stated on the Dacast article, “This growing ubiquity represents an opportunity for other businesses. Live video can be a powerful tool. Whether for marketing, sales, training, entertainment, or media, live video is a compelling technology.” This is a very good tool for people or companies to market themselves. Also, as I was reading more about video and video marketing and how it is growing so rapidly, I came across this article in Oberlo by Maryam Mohsin and really liked his quote, “If video marketing is the future, then the future is here.” He proves statistically how video is and will be the best marketing tool out there. I believe it, I can imagine there are many people like me that are more visual and would rather watch a video with useful and important information than read an article.I was impressed when I read what Mohsin stated, “85% of all internet users watched online video content monthly on any of their devices.” That is a HUGE percentage of people that are watching videos! And now 87% of people are using video as their method of marketing. “YouTube is the second largest search engine. It receives more than 1.5 billion usersper month and plays over 1 billion hours of video each day to users (SEJ, 2018).” This is crazy to think about how many people go to YouTube to look up information. I sure do when I don’t know how to use something, I look up instructions on YouTube. Comparing YouTube with Facebook Live, as I read, YouTube wins out in terms of searchability and SEO. YouTube videos show up in search results. People and companies stream online to showcase something, a product, event, a surprise, or anything they want everyone to know and see. As said before, it is a great marketing tool and very interactive.
