I'm a chill and normal person and this random one-act play that no one gives a shit about is not doing bad/insane things to me or making me feel crazier than I've felt about any story in a long time. 😊

2 me doug has erectile dysfunction because of the Themes <3 because first of all there's the whole weird thing about physical touch that they've got going on. kayleen is sexually traumatized and calls him a perv when he tries to wrestle w her. when they kiss at 13 she IMMEDIATELY throws up after. and at 23 when he kisses her she flinches back and does not want it. and also none of this Really matters because the only physical touch that's important to them is the healing touch!! and so i think it's awesome if there's this additional element that complicates the concept of sexual touch for them and really does narrow them down to wounding/healing alone. and additionally it would represent, on doug's end, the sacrifice of traditionally ultra important masculine ideals because he DOESN'T NEED IT! like the accident that puts him in the wheelchair is. oh no i have erectile dysfunction now so sad ... more importantly I CAN'T USE MY LEGS TO THROW MYSELF OFF ROOFS ANYMORE. how else am i going to get my best friend to notice me :(

so fucking miserable that kayleen, FIVE YEARS before trying to cut her own stomach out, told doug that she was "not great" and that she desperately needed him. and then spent five years THINKING HE WAS DEAD!!!!!!!!!!! and actively getting worse and having positively fucking no one to turn to HENCE trying to cut her own stomach out. meanwhile doug is ALIVE but did not know how horrifically badly his leenie needed him. why? because she said it to him while he was in a COMAAAAAAAAA aka the only time she's ever gonna admit that she needs him ever. i'm actually gonna gag. and then he turns up and is like "did you visit me in the hospital 🥺" YES YOU DUMB BITCH and you should have LISTENED HARDER. she needed youuuuuu she spent five years getting worse and worse and eventually tried to mutilate herself and she NEEDED you. oh i'll actually kill myself. AND the whole time, that entire five years, she's thinking about how badly she wishes dougie were here. but obviously she's not gonna do anything about it. because she thinks he is dead and also because she wouldn't reach out to him even if she knew. sad!

dougleen i am begging you both to develop ONE (1) healthy attachment strategy.
