I felt like this really resonated with me. I felt like the reason that this speech moved me to tears what that it was undeniably the truth. It was the truth about life and how scary the world can be when you're told that you're different or that you feel like you don't belong. It's the truth about what happens when something in your life starts to change- be that you're moving away, or you have lost someone or something that you felt was your safety net, your guide and you now are left trying to find out what it is that makes you, you. My Mad Fat Diary has covered so many issues and problems that happen to people nowadays that no one talks about as they feel they are alone. And that is why I have copied out Rae's speech. To share with everyone, even people who never watched the show... How powerful and inspiring a TV show can be. "It's like I'm walking through the forest, the whole time. And for the most part... It's fine. It can be beautiful- peaceful even but you always know that at some point, you're going to come across these parts of the forest that you don't recognise. Dark corners that you didn't know we're there but, well, you kinda always knew they were coming. And that's when the world gets scary. And that's when you can lose your way. But because I've got great mates and people who make me strong and remind me that even when I hit those dark parts of the forest, that I've just got to keep walking. Just keep walking and I'll be okay. I'll be scared. But I'll be okay." So thank you MMFD. Thank you for showing the world that diversity is important. That friendship is vital and that no one should ever feel alone in any situation. There is always someone there for you.
