Chapter summary: At Waystation (again) and a bit elsewhere too
A/N: We’re (finally) getting closer to the end of the ‘Waystation arc’. I don’t think I have that much to say about this chapter, but I’d like to dedicate it to Cecid as a late birthday present, because she has really kicked my butt to continue this story!

The silence that fell into the room after Leo stormed out got more and more overwhelming until finally, Calypso couldn’t take it anymore. She could feel the two women and their daughter stare at her, but they were too astounded to say anything.
“I… I don’t understand what I did wrong,” Calypso mumbled eventually. “They were just matches. I didn’t mean that he should use them immediately; it was just my way of trying to tell him that I believe he can get over his fear one day.”
The women exchanged dark looks.

i had a flashback thought to when I wrote a self-insert fanfic for the Percy Jackson series bc I wanted to be the person who fell in love and stayed with Calypso (or figured out how to free her) then read the Heroes of Olympus and Leo Valdez existed and DID THAT and I had intense gender envy for this little impish lad lol So i drew them... to combat some art block and practice a more cartoon/anime like style that I'm TRYING to get into

A/N: Soo sorry about the long wait! This was a very long and kind of tricky chapter to write so it took me longer than I would have wanted. But in a way this is (ironically) a good day to post this chapter as it’s the Mother’s day in many parts of the world today. (Happy Mother’s day Esperanza Valdez ;___;)
Before we head into this chapter, I want to give you guys a warning that it (specifically, the flashback in the beginning of the chapter) talks about what happened to Leo’s mother, so in case you find that too hard to read, feel free to skip it. (If you have read HoO, I think you can somewhat guess what to expect)

Leo had been tinkering with his toy tools and drawing some simple blueprints in the living room when he had remembered that he had left his hammer into his room. He went to look for it and it took him a couple of minutes to locate it from under the unfinished toys and papers he had thrown around. Unfortunately, that couple of minutes had been enough for all hell to break loose in the living room.

In ToA their love is more like a garden. They have to water and nourish their relationship or they won’t grow.

Cal tries to teach Leo to harmonize but he’s a lost cause and fails miserably
they sit around the campfire with the others, Leo cracks jokes and Calypso laughs at them
Cal tastes s’mores for the first time
despite the big flame, Cal is freezing because it’s January, Leo tries to warm up her cold hands
they’re the last at the campfire and when everyone left they started to slow dance
Cal hums the melody she sang on Ogygia and Leo tears up a little bit
they’re just happy that they’re finally safe and not have to worry about danger for at least one night
Leo and Calypso’s Garage: Auto Repair and Mechanical Monsters
“Fresh fruits and vegetables,” Calypso offered. “Cider and stew,” Leo added. “We could even provide entertainment. You could sing and I could, like, randomly burst into flames.” Calypso laughed—a clear, happy sound that made Leo’s heart go ka-bump. “See,” he said, “I’m funny.” She managed to kill her smile. “You are not funny. Now, get back to work, or no cider and stew.” “Yes, ma’am,” he said.”
Leo left a crater in Calypso’s beach but he also left a crater in her heart💖

I’m just in love with how creative Leo and Calypso are. Calypso can weave, garden, play the harp, sing and act. Leo builds stuff from scratch, can fix anything, manipulates a megaphone so that it sounds like Darth Vader, repairs a mechanical dragon twice, builds a giant warship alone and a musical instrument out of nowhere.
HC that they admire each other’s craft a lot and make the best handmade gifts for each other.
In canon Calypso can sing and is a good actress. I say that she’s gonna be a theatre kid and she’ll love musicals. HC that she’s gonna get the leading role in their school play and Leo, as the supportive boyfriend he is, will help with the stage setting and lighting.
