mother's day (reaping day)

katniss's relationship with her mother is very important to me. while rereading the hunger games, it makes me sad that there's no comfort in seeing her mother for the last time before she leaves for the capitol. a lot of katniss's fears stem from her mother, but I think that, most of all, she fears being alike her mother.

happy birthday and happy mother’s day to katniss everdeen 💐💗  I think about her a lot…  I love her with all of my heart.

I think a lot about the epilogue in mockingjay a lot, too.  it’s set in a meadow.  despite being a graveyard atop what was once district 12, it is a place that katniss sings about and dreams about… a place that is safe for her children to grow up.

this drawing is a love letter of sorts to katniss and the meadow and rebirth.
