Welcome to the Abstraction AU.

Essentially in my own head-canon, Abstraction isn't a death sentence. I'd like to think of it more as they're extremely depressed/locked in a state of mental despair, and as a result their coding got janky along the way [they are mind files after all. If the mind is screwed, then so is file]. But, multiple things had to happen before the crew realized undoing Abstraction was possible.

Caine had to learn to rely on others for help. [In the beginning, he wasn't able to fix Abstraction alone, hence 'The Cellar'. But once he hit rock bottom in 'The Void' and let go of his ego, he's more open to the concept of collaborating with the others (especially if it means they can save Lyra)]

Pomni discovering that the Abstracted minds are still reachable. [Because Jax felt most comfortable with Pomni, they allowed her in. She was their Key. Each Abstracted has their Key person, and that Key is the only one who can open up the door to their mind. Once the door is open, others can enter as well.]

Kinger's vast expertise in coding and C&A files.

Once those 3 things were established, they were able to form a plan.

Caine creates a computer for Kinger.

Kinger uses his mad hacker skills to de-bug the mind file as much as possible

Once the file is cleared, the Key Person and friends hug the Abstracted and enter the mind.

Group Therapy. The cast talk with the Abstracted person and try to help them through their trauma/convince them to come back.

If the Abstracted refuses help, the cast is punted out of the mind and they begin glitching [to which Caine fixes with a quick snap]. The mind file is once again corrupted and Kinger has to clean it again. a. This cycle may repeat multiple times; aka multiple de-bugging and therapy sessions. It depends on how mentally traumatized they are/how long they’ve been locked in their Abstracted state. Could take weeks, months or longer.

If the Abstracted accepts help, they all emerge from the mind and the Abstracted player’s body returns to normal [but not without scars; variety depends on how long they were stuck in their corrupted form. The longer a player is Abstracted, the harder it is to come back/the worse the damage may be to their avatar].

Now. That being said.

Lyra was the first and easiest Abstraction to save. Her code had been corrupted for a short time all things considering, and once she discovered Caine was alive, she was happy to return. [Though she was quite self conscious of her scars at first. Luckily Caine helps reassure her everyday ♡]

Jax would take longer to save, due to their psychological state and needing multiple 'therapy sessions' before feeling well enough to return to the Circus. [When they first emerge, they're still uncertain of how they want to appear/only brave enough for small mods to their avatar to express themselves. With time, they become more confident, appearing more feminine and embracing who thye are]

Similar to Jax, Ribbit and Kaufmo would take a while to Unabstract due to reconciling with Jax, and with how long they both were trapped in their Abstracted states.

It is unclear if Queenie and the Original Cast can be saved due to being Abstracted for the longest amount of time. Kinger is still working hard to clean the heavily corrupted files; it could take months to years. If they were to be recovered, they would suffer the most physical damage [what's listed above and potentially more, like losing feeling in a limb, complete memory loss, ect.] [Aka I'm leaving it up to the viewers to interpret it however they want/choose their own story!]

Ragatha is her best friend for sure. They really bond over trying to remain positive for the sake of others, and can even relate to having abusive mothers (Ragatha’s being physical from what we've seen, and Lyra's being emotional). The main differences between the two is that Ragatha lacks self confidence at times and gets triggered easily (esp by Jax). Lyra can hold her own if she needs to, and is fairly patient/doesn't get bothered by things (unless in high stress situations involving screaming/conflict. Then she freezes up/quickly retreat so she can process alone without accidentally lashing out). But otherwise, Ragatha is her bestie for sure!

Kinger would most likely be next. Like everyone else, he would be a fatherly figure for her. She would go out of her way to check in on him in his fortress, make sure he's doing ok. She notices his bouts of wisdom on occasion, and appreciates what he has to say, whether or not it makes sense. And would gently help him in adventures if he ever got turned around. Kinger feels comfortable with her, even if he forgets her name on occasion. She takes the time to engage with him and listen, even when he babbles about bug facts. She's a good listener, and he likes her calm presence. 

Gangle would be third in the equation. They feel a kinship in arriving around the same time, and both experienced the horror of Abstraction when Ribbit turned. They both like cartoons and like to discuss shows they enjoyed. Sometimes they'll have a craft night where Gangle will draw and Lyra will paint, not saying a word but enjoying each other's company. Lyra would step in-between the masked player and Jax, falling on the blade of his constant teasing so Gangle could catch a break. The Angel wishes Gangle would have more confidence in herself and her abilities, but is relieved when Zooble enters the picture and brings out another side of her friend. 

Pomni would be next on the list! Though still relatively new, Lyra takes a liking to her. She sees how she treats the others, and admires her bravery despite the fact that the Jester was so anxious in the beginning. Pomni wasn't looking to make friends right away, and it seemed to take time before she was able to slowly open up. Lyra didn't press, just simply let the Jester figure out her surroundings. The Angel offered Pomni a safe space, and let the new guest come to her on her own accord. Eventually, they began to hang out more in group settings. They haven't had a lot of time to form a strong bond quite yet, but Lyra hopes that they can become friends soon enough! 

Zooble would be after. Not that Lyra dislikes Zooble in any way; she just has a harder time understanding their gruff exterior. Similarly, Zooble doesn't understand Lyra's fondness for this hellscape, and especially for Caine of all things. On the same note, Lyra doesn't appreciate how mean they can be toward the Ringmaster. They're not necessarily friends, but they at least share a mutual respect towards each other. Lyra is grateful that they are so kind to Gangle, and Zooble admires how much Lyra looks after the others. Their shared hatred for Jax is also a bonding aspect.

Speaking of, it comes to no surprise that Jax is her least favourite. She hates how much of a bully he is. She doesn't care so much when he picks on her, she can take it. “Kill ‘em with Kindness” as the saying goes. But she despises how he treats the others, especially Ragatha and Gangle. Jax also dislikes Lyra. He hates how she cozies up to their captor and actually seems to like him? Hates the special treatment she gets from Caine as a result. He also finds it very annoying that everyone seems to LOVE her even though she's a “kiss-a$%#” in his eyes. These two do NOT see eye-to-eye, and both are fine with it.
