Huntr/x has been doing this gimmick for years where they'll put on a performance and some actors dressed up like demons will "interrupt" it or get into some choreo fights on stage and stuff. If you're a fan you know, the demons usually symbolize things like industry corruption, Mira's struggle with her family, Rumi being in the closet, etc, and there's lots of hints and secret messages to the fans in what they're wearing or how they show up. Check out huntresx5evah on blsky they've got an extensive examination of the "demons" over the years and what the messages to the fans are.

In the concert before Golden was released, the demons were dressed like flight attendants. That was the indication that something new was about to take off. @/queenhuntrixdontmiss and I speculated that it was going to be a new single and low and behold, it was.

But then the live performance got cancelled. It's an open secret that Rumi was having vocal issues, so that was probably not planned. They needed to buy time for her to recover, so, enter the Saja Boys -- a fake band of guys really clearly pretending to be demons, they release ONE single, do a bunch of b-tier variety shows for a week, nearly all of their public appearances have Huntr/x right there, keeping the hype and energy up until Rumi can get her throat polyps removed and furthering the routine where Huntr/x are supposed to be secret demon hunters and the Saja Boys are supposed to be secret demons.

Then the whole thing culminates in the Golden live performance at the idol awards, the big act with Huntr/x fake "break up" and the subsequent theatrics to make it up to fans for failing the first Golden performance. Huntr/x takes their obligation to fans very seriously, I've no doubt that they all felt terrible about having to cancel, so a free show was the obvious recourse to try and make it up to people. And they pulled out all the stops!

So, short version, the multiverse is controlled by seven ultrapowerful mortals turned gods, the Demiurges. The REAL gods are all dead, and were found dead by the only warrior mightier than the Seven, King Zoss. Who all this time has bene seeking a successor, despite being dead.

Cue comedy, horror, and awesome. Often at the same time.

Pros:

--MASSIVE female-centric cast with tons of women's rights, women's wrongs, and everything in between. Main characters lean towards the ladies. Demiurges are 3/7 ladies (insomuch as Gog-Agog has gender, she's at least been a girl for the story's time) and all fascinating character-wise. The word "King" is used in a gender neutral way. Angels are called out for insisting to have no gender but defaulting to masculine pronouns for their entire race, even ones it makes uncomfortable. And so on.

--Sexism being a major plot point without overpowering the story--essentially, Allison is the First Woman that Zoss has tried to have as successor, the prophecy was translated in such a way people ASSUME the successor must be male, and it's well into the fourth book to take even all the leads to accept no, Zoss really picked her.

--Great art evolution by the end of the first "book." It's never BAD, but it gets more and more awe-inspiring. By the sixth and current, the artist admits they're a bit addicted to Complex Character Design

--Really good ruminations on fate, omnipotence, will, strength, enlightenment, and more Big Concepts. And a Diogenes Expy named Meti who was the greatest sword fighter in the multiverse...and hates swords. And fighting. And everything else.

--Mottom is literally all three Hecate Sisters in one person and her backstory is so messed up and explains her perfectly I love it

--The god who created humanity, considered to the the Top Disciple of the Big Creator of All...is a stupid, childish brat known as the Master of Want (aka aspiration, greed, and self sufficiency). She is the greatest disciple BECAUSE she is never content and always pushing for something greater than what she currently is. She is therefore also the God of Self Improvement. Her name is Aesma and I love her.

--Maya. Dear EVERYTHING Maya once we learn her whole deal.

--Early art maybe not for everyone. Still VERY good, just maybe not for everyone.

--If gore is not your thing...you're not going to like later chapters, and even early ones have a good amount
