Some artists post their works on Pixiv, a Japanese art site, full of adult art.

But it’s hard to get noticed there when you’re not a native Japanese speaker. So you need to use TAGS to show up in search results.

Here is a list of tags that you can use to label your artwork… or search for the subject yourself, if you are not an artist. Some of them are repeated in appropriate categories.

GENERAL:

へんたい - Hentai (This tag is not necessary for pictures tagged R-18 or R-18G)

無修正 - Uncensored (specifically refers to lack of mosaics or bars over genitals)

エッチ - Ecchi (Pervy, but not outright pornographic)

腐向け - This tag indicates that the picture is intended for audiences who like BL.

漫画 - Manga/cartoon. Lots of meanings.

かわいい - Cute/Kawaii

らくがき - Scribble/sketch, usually with little effort. Scraps. 落書き - Scribble/sketch (this version gets more search results)

無修正 - Uncensored (specifically refers to lack of mosaics or bars over genitals)

原創 - Original (Your own characters/setting, not from a franchise)

アナログ - Analog (Specifically refers to piece not being digital)

全裸 - Naked

裸 - Naked (more search results)

GENRES:

ファンタジー - Fantasy (Genre. Swords and Sorcery, etc)

BL - Boys’ Love

やおい - Yaoi (male/male sexual situations)

少年愛 - Shounen Ai (male/male, but more emotional than sexual)

薔薇 - Bara (Male/Male, but much more masculine. Generally involves burly, muscular characters)

ホモ - Homosexual (usually more masculine. Lit. “Homo”)

触手 - Tentacles

ケモノ - Kemono, Furry (lit. “Beast Person”)

ケモホモ - “Kemohomo,” gay furry

NOTE: I have noticed that there doesn’t seem to be any notable tags for hetero/straight-oriented art, as this is the “default” type of hentai.

少年 - Boy 男の子 - Boy (similar meaning to above)

美少年 - “Handsome youth.” Characters who are implied to be as such, in-universe.

原創 - Original (Your own characters/setting, not from a franchise.)

王女 - Ojo/Princess (lit. “King’s Daughter”)

姫 - Hime/Princess (Young lady of high birth, not necessarily royalty)

へんたい - Hentai means strange, or abnormal, and in Japan it’s not necessarily referring to pornography, hence the reason why you’re not always finding R-18 things in this tag. エロ / ero or ポルノ / poruno is used instead.

腐向け - Fumuke means intended for fans of mxm pairings, slash, yaoi doujinshi, mxm fiction in general, not necessarily canonically BL series.

やおい -  Yaoi refers to a specific type of mxm parody comic (doujinshi), but isn’t necessarily sexual.

少年愛 - Shounen ai means pederasty in Japan and can be very sexual. It’s more often used in the context of shotacon nowadays. 

薔薇 - Bara means rose. As a result, this tag is mostly full of pictures containing the flower. It is also used as an old-fashioned insult toward gay men that westerners mistakenly use to refer to Japanese erotic gay manga / geicomi. Use the ガチムチ / gachimuchi or マッチョ / macho tag to find more masculine-looking men, instead.

ホモ - Homo considered insulting. You’ll find all sorts of body types here, not just GMPD guys. It refers to mxm in general.

男の娘 - Otokonoko - Refers to an AMAB character that could easily pass as a girl due to their feminine appearance. Most are crossdressers, though this isn’t always the case. 男の娘 that do crossdress would be under the 女装子 / josou ko umbrella, but not all 男の娘 are 女装子. Otoko no ko is a pun that replaces the 子 / ko character usually seen in otoko no ko (meaning boy) with 娘 / ko character meaning “daughter”, so they become “boy daughters”.

The stuff about breasts and milking isn’t female specific. Male lactation may pop up in those tags.

Same deal with the penises. Newhalf and futanari often show up in those tags. It’s not male specific.

speaking of which:

ふたなり - Futanari refers specifically to a mythical type hermaphrodite. The “futa” in this means “two”, the nari is “parts”, so it refers to the fact that the character has both penis and vagina (and usually has breasts as well). They’re usually considered to be ‘female’ in identity, though this isn’t always the case. (see: Satan from Devilman Crybaby) A lot of people misuse the term and are actually confusing it with newhalf.

ニューハーフ - Newhalf refers to an AMAB person in the entertainment business or sex work whose upper half is considered “female” (breasts due to hormones or surgery) and lower half is considered “male” (penis). Some will choose to later get vaginoplasty. While this is often translated in English to “sh*male” (a slur), the usage of “newhalf” in Japan is closer to Thailand’s “phuying praphet song”. This term more describes a transfeminine person’s line of work than their identity. In the context of erotic anime and manga it can be used to refer to any girl with a penis (not just AMAB transfems, but also people who we would probably consider intersex in the real world, as well as those who have ‘grown’ penises due to magic etc.). But it’s mostly associated with transfems in the water trade.

Here are some more tags to add to the list!

女装子- Josou ko: (Literally female-clothing-child) Umbrella term for male characters (of all ages) that crossdress.

雄んなの子 - Onna no ko: Refers to an AFAB character that could easily pass as a boy due to their masculine apperance. Onna no ko is a pun that replaces the “o” part of “onna” (girl) with 雄 / o character meaning male animal or an archaic word for “husband”. Also seen as 女の息子 and 女の漢 (same readings)

メス男子 - Mesudanshi: Similar to ‘femboy’ in English. Mesu means ‘female animal’, and danshi means boy. A male character with traditionally ‘female’ secondary sex characteristics such as wide hips or breasts. Also seen as ビッチ男子 / bicchidanshi (“bitch-boy”).

イケ女ン -Ikemen: An adult female character that looks like a handsome / beautiful man. A pun on ikemen where the メ / me character is replaced with 女 / me (woman). If also a crossdresser, they are called 男装の麗人 / dansou no reijin (male-clothed-beauty). English equivilent in fandom circles is “bifauxnen”.

漢女 - Otome: An incredibly manly-looking female character. (e.g. Sakura Oogami from Dangan Ronpa) A play on words where the word 乙女 / otome (maiden) has the 乙 character replaced with  漢 / otoko (man among men).

男ふたなり - Otokofutanari: Literally “male futanari”. A male-identified character with both penis and vagina. Breasts are optional. Often seen with situations like 生理男子 / seiri danshi (boys that menstruate) and 妊夫 / ninpu (male pregnancy). In cases where the male character has a vagina but doesn’t have a penis, he would be considered gyakufutanari instead.

逆ふたなり - Gyakufutanari: Literally “reverse futanari”, though this terminology naming is incorrect. Rather than being a sexless character, it refers to a male character with a vagina instead of a penis. カントボーイ / kantobooi is often used, but it’s just a borrowing of the english term “c*ntboy”.

性別不明 -Seibestu fumei: Characters whose genders are not specified or ambiguous

無性別 - Museibetsu: Genderless characters.

無性器 - Museki: Characters without genitalia.

メシウマ - Meshiuma: Schaudenfraude, taking pleasure in other people’s pain

妊夫 / 男性妊娠 - Ninpu / Otoko ninshin: - Mpreg

雄っぱい  - Oppai: Usually means “boobs,” but with the first character changed to 雄, which means male animal or an archaic word for husband, this means “male boobs”. Can refer to muscular men’s chests or men with actual breasts.

生理男子 - Seiri danshi: men that menstruate
