the fact that so many people are still stuck on the 'gender and sex are separate, gender is Fake and can be whatever you want, but sex is real' thing is crazy. there's a lot of people who can talk the talk with AGAB terminology without understanding the point of said terminology, i.e. that gender, sex, et al are social categories justified with medicalisation, not the other way around. anyone who says 'biologically male' or 'biologically female' just believes, in a slightly more complicated way, that being transgender is a mental delusion, rather than a genuine analysis of and position in the social system of gender.

Was talking about saw x with a girl in class today and she's Hispanic so we were both kinda laughing/complaining about the yellow filter they always put over Mexico and south asian/middle east countries and then that one asshole dude cut in and started explaining how color grading was a very intentional choice made by the directors and how important it is to cinema (like ok. Shut up and maybe think about how hollywoods biases might affect their portrayal of certain regions because THATS what we were talking about. Not the concept of color grading) and then he got really mad at me because I was like "omg you're so right" and started waxing poetic about how the blue filter on twilight was the best example of color grading I'd ever seen in film because it perfectly encapsulates the misery of the pacific northwest

I've found the best thing to do with a guy like that is agree with them and then apply their arguments to something very much associated with women that they think is shallow (omg ur so right color grading is EVERYTHING when setting the tone and mood of movies!! They do that so well in twilight with the blue filter to show the dreariness of the pnw) so that they can't contradict you without admitting that they're full of shit but they also can't let themselves agree with what you're saying because then they look like they might believe that whatever girly thing you're talking about might have artistic merit and they start turning colors it's beautiful
