Leem Of Earth

I took a screenshot of this today because the numbers looked familiar and then I realized it is because if you flip those numbers around it is the exact length of the new Leem.

We don’t have a lot of filler, and I think that’s good since this is a concept album and I want the listener to listen to the whole thing. Too much longer and the idea of listening to it might seem like a daunting task. This is a great length for someone who is new to the idea of listening to an entire album from start to finish.

The field in the photo was a stretch on the John Muir Way in Scotland. A little field right outside of a town called Gullane.

For years I had this beautiful framed photo, I think it’s called Gullane 1981, on my wall.

When I started riding my bicycle all the time like a maniac in 2018, I looked up biking trails in Scotland and what do you know - the JMW went right through a beach village on the west coast of Scotland and it was Gullane! I got to see this beautiful beach in real life and it truly was like living in Mary Poppins. The picture came alive and I stepped into it and it was absolutely magical.

The low hanging clouds had me under their spell.

Feels like I have been dipping into different pools in the wood between two worlds and not at all keeping my head straight. Dealing with Wormogenic and Leem at the same time is a LOT so thank goodness that I don’t have Jadis or Uncle Andrew to bother me, too.

In Wormogenic news: her next single, IF she turns her cover art in to me ASAP haha, comes out August 7th and is called Apocalypse Queen.

I’ve been absent from Tumblr class this week and I wish I could say that it’s because I’ve been writing an epic series called The Barnacles of Marina and my pen name is C. Feud Louis but that’s not true…yet.

Instead, I kind of hit a mental roadblock because I somehow missed typos on the CD artwork and have checked it maybe one million times and if it passes muster (Attention!) today then off it goes to be replicated by the good folks at Discmakers and then I can get back to my regular Tumblr programming.

1) I don’t believe there are any typos but still gonna send to Cloud

2) My notes and first drafts are pure chaos

3) SEE goes to streaming Friday the 13th in November but you’ll have it before then

I really should mention Enya when I talk about influences. She was one of the rare artists that we listened to who was more mainstream. My mom loved her and listening to her music in the old Toyota Pioneer mini-van was the soundtrack to many core memories. Thirty-nine cent twist cone, anyone?

The designer didn’t send CD and cassette source files for me to edit yet so I read Part One of this lovely book this afternoon and of course I cried when Sophie and then Novalis died like I didn’t already know about it. 💔

Not my guitar I just love trying them all!

Let’s see…I was in a couple of music stores this weekend playing all kinds of guitars and the guy working the acoustic room in one of them got a Hummingbird down for me and I was playing and he said, “Where’d you learn all them four dollar chords? That’s what my dad used to call ‘em. You must have played the piano first because guitarists don’t play those chords.” 😭 And he was right!

VBM podcast came out this weekend. I was a teensy bit nervous about doing it but it was fun! My only problem with watching it is that I realized I was sitting on a drum stool and just swinging back and forth for the whole podcast haha! Thanks to Cody and Joey for having me on. What a life-giving conversation we had.

In Leem news: I’m wrapping up design work for CD and cassette. Vinyl is already in production.

But wait, there’s more! We haven’t decided the two singles…but we have decided on the artwork. The cover artist for the record, Jamin Still, had an absolutely beautiful painting on his easel last week and I think it’s ten by twenty inches, so cut in half it makes the two covers perfect squares.

Heck yes! We are off to the presses and super ahead of schedule and I even did a rush order for the vinyl because I am too excited about everything.

I like to hit a road block or two, sometimes. Makes me think outside of whatever box I was putting my project in! Vinyl stuff was killing me the last couple of days because I don’t normally live in graphic design land, haha.

Problem? Take a walk. It’ll probably clear up soon and maybe there’s another option by the end of the walk when I sit back down at my computer.
