I Need your Help
Hi there, it has been awhile! I wanted to drop by and share some updates that have happened recently and what that means for my leatherwork.

The long and short of it is that I lost my regular day job. I was let go suddenly and am trying to figure out how to support myself now. This happened 2 months ago and I'm still fighting to get unemployment or food stamps because the state is being very slow.
A Little About Me
I’m a trans woman, gratefully in a safer location than many places these days, I have an advanced degree in natural resource management, over a decade of experience teaching environmental sciences and guiding people to learn outdoors. If you know anything about these fields of work in the US, then you know that there just isn’t really a job field anymore and finding more entry level work with these credentials is exceptionally tough… I've yet to get a single call back for any job application.
But I’m also leatherworker by trade and I can talk out my ass all day long, so there is hope for me to make something of a meager existence. I’ll get more into that in just a moment. First though, here’s my situation.
The Situation
The loss of my job was sudden and unexpected. Paired with the fact that I have already been living paycheck to paycheck in order to cover rent, fuel, bills and other expenses, I just don’t have any safety net to ensure I can cover my costs of living while I look for a new job and invest some of my newfound free time into my leatherworking.
I recently attended a market and worked my ass off to create over 30 new leather items to sell. Long story short: 10 people showed up in total and I travelled 300 miles to make $9 in sales (sold 3 stickers).
Ultimately, I need to raise $4,800 through leather sales, livestreaming (more on this in moment), and the charity of lovely people. This amount would cover rent and all costs for the remainder of my apartment’s lease and the next few months which frees my partner to file for bankruptcy, a process that will free her from a huge amount of medical debt but that costs roughly $3,000.
So what am I doing to make ends meet?
Right now I'm trying to make ends meet through several means.
Job Hunting: Obviously I'm looking for work where I can in the Portland Area. Not havign great luck so far...
I set up a GoFundMe last month but havent had much traction at all.
I've started livestreaming the leatherwork I do! It's not much but the streams are fun, keep me focused and creative, and let me chat with people while I work
I've updated my website, added a ton of product, dropped some prices, and opened my commissions and custom work.
I'm Vending in physical places around PDX now wherever I can set up and sell my goods.
