Auxiliaries and modals are used for a few different purposes, but mostly to distinguish tenses.

Present tense: no auxiliaries

I help him = Ai sis em au

Past tense: don

There is only simple past tense in trigedasleng, no perfect tenses.

I helped him = Ai don sis em au

I have helped him = Ai don sis em au

I had helped him = Ai don sis em au

Future tense: na

I will help him = Ai na sis em au

Na also means can.

I can help him = Ai na sis em au

Passive aspect: ge

I am helped = Ai ge sis au

Progressive: ste

I am helping him = Ai ste sis em au

Can also be used together with past or future tense.

I was helping him = Ai don ste sis em au

I will be helping him = Ai na ste sis em au

Modality: beda and souda

Beda means should.

I should help him = Ai beda sis em au

Souda means must.

I must help him = Ai souda sis em au

Question negation: din

Din means didn’t, won’t and isn’t.

Didn’t you help him? = Din yu sis em au?

Won’t you help him? = Din yu sis em au

As said HERE, nouns do not have case distinctions. Neither does names. This means that the is no difference between for example Octavia and Octavia’s, so therefore

Octavia’s knife = Okteivia swis

For nouns, one way to express possession is to use the preposition

from = kom

For example,

The village’s leader = Heda kom stegeda

If it is important to emphasize the definiteness of a noun or a pronouns, the suffix -de can be used.

The trees are listening = Tri-de ste set yu op

She’s the enemy = Em-de laik baga

The word bilaik have a few different uses in Trigedasleng. As a copula Bilaik can be used as a more figurative to be instead of ste or laik. Read more HERE.

You are not a (real) warrior = Yu nou bilaik gona

As a relative pronoun

All relative pronouns in Trigedasleng translate tobilaik. The relative pronouns include which, that, whose, whoever, whomever, who, whom, what, when, and where.

The warrior that I healed is safe = Gona bilaik ai don fis op ste klir

Often the relative pronouns is not needed though, so

The warrior that I healed is safe = Gona ai don fis op ste klir

is also a correct translation.

As a preposition/conjunction

Bilaik can be translated into like or as in some instances.

Like you said = Bilaik yu don biyo

A copula is a word that means to be. There are three copulas in Trigedasleng.

Ste - used with adjectives and as a progressive auxiliary         (read more about auxiliaries and modals HERE).

I am strong = Ai ste yuj

Laik - used with nouns and adverbial and prepositional          phrases.

I am a girl = Ai laik gada

I am a strong girl = Ai laik yuj gada

I am in the house = Ai laik raun hou

Bilaik - used with adjectives, nouns and adverbial and            prepositional phrases but not in an as literal sense as            ste or laik (more like to sort of be).

You are not a (real) warrior = Yu nou bilaik gona

The verbs are the part of Trigedasleng that differs from English more than any other part. In Trigedasleng, most (not all, see below) verbs consist of two parts:

The verb and the satellite. Changing either of them will change the meaning of the entire sentence. Nine different satellites have been observed so far: raun - most often used with transitive verbs when they are           used intransitively, or with intransitive words op - most often used with concrete verbs in - most often used with abstract verbs klin - indicated finality au - most often used when the English “out” would be used we - most often used when the English “away” would be         used daun - most often used when the English “down” would be            used thru - indicates continuation and progressive actions of - most often used when the English “off” would be used Transitive verbs are verbs that affect an object, intransitive verbs are ones that do not (compare to have and to run). Concrete verbs are verbs for doing and acting on the physical world, abstract verbs do not have the same impact on the physical world (compare to say and to feel). Examples:

To watch = ai op

vs

To watch out = ai raun

To watch (satellite = op) is transitive and is usually used with an object, unlike to watch out (satellite = raun).

To wait = hod op

vs

To love = hod in

To wait (satellite = op) has a more concrete impact on the physical world than to love (satellite = in).

To destroy = flosh klin

Can also be translated to to massacre, which is also very final.

To help = sis au

From help out.

To leave = gon we

From gone away.

To write = skrab daun

From scribe down.

To live = kik raun

vs

To survive = kik thru

To live (satellite = raun) is intransitive, means basically the same thing as to survive (satellite = thru), but to survive describes a more progressive action.

To rip off = rip of

Nouns always stay the same. They have no plurals, so therefore

My friends = ai lukot

Though there are two options if pluralization of nouns still is necessary: Bosh and loda can be translated to some.

Some friends = Bosh lukot

Some friends = Loda lukot

Emo can be translated to those or the.

Emo lukot = Those/the friends

Nouns don’t have definite or indefinite articles;

The girl = Gada

A girl = Gada

But if it’s important to emphasize the definiteness of a noun, the suffix -de can be used, read more HERE. Or, as said above, to emphasize the definiteness of a noun in plural form, emo can be used.
