Finally got this ref sheet done after waaaay too long. Anyways, name drop! Although I’m still a bit iffy about it since it sounds a bit silly. But I think I’m going to stick with it.

I’m pretty proud of this one. I spent ages getting the wings right. Plus at one point I had to redo it because I did it on a much lower resolution accidentally.

I’m excited for anyone who’s actually interested in my little story to get to know this goober. I think I’m going to have a lot of fun writing him. Even though I struggle with it a lot.

Here is a fun little thing I put together. A concept of what Learning to Communicate would look like as a visual novel. At least, a very small chunk of it. This also gives a sneak peek to some of the new ideas I've been cooking up over the past year or so. It's a little rough around the edges, trust me, I know. And yes, it is made in google slides. But I had a lot of fun making it! Actually, this is only a small part of all the work I put into this project. Mainly, a bunch of different sprites that aren't used in this short clip. I spent way too much time on those, so I'll probably show them off some other time. Finally, consider the text with a grain of salt, as it's basically just a placeholder. Anyways, that's enough of me yapping. Back to writing! (Hopefully)

Here he is! The new and improved Conrad. Now with 30% more depression!

I changed up the patterns because they've been bothering since the beginning. Now I finally have something I'm happy with. I think I was overcomplicating it before. I've also added hair, another thing I've been thinking about for a long time. It's not the best, but it's alright. I do really want to add a side profile though. Finally, he got an age bump. His backstory changed pretty significantly, so his new age makes more sense (he was always a little too young anyways).

You'll also note the traits as a replacement for the previous likes and dislikes. Some of which might seem strange if you've read the first draft. But Conrad has changed a lot since then. And these traits are much more indicative of his new personality.

So I’ve still been doing some brainstorming and a little writing. Also rethinking the title of the story and Connor’s name. I’m not definitely changing either yet but there’s a good chance I will. I’ve always thought “Learning to Communicate” was a little too on the nose and yet not very descriptive at the same time. I’ve been considering “Lost in Translation” as the new title, but that also seems generic. To anyone who sees this, feel free to make any suggestions.

As for Connor, it was always kind of a placeholder name. And as I’ve been developing the story the main thing that’s changed is Connor. Cause to be honest he was a pretty flat character before. So a new name to fit the new Connor could be nice. As I’ve mentioned before, Connor’s ref sheet will need an update. I’ll get around to that when I can.

Here is the update finally on the alien. I meant to post it a long time ago but I forgot. Plus the process just took longer than I thought. I ended up redoing it at one point cause I realized I imported the base at a low resolution. But I got that all fixed now.

Ya know, since it will be a while before I release any new writing for this story. I think in the meantime I’ll occasionally post some of my backlog of other writings, mainly short stories. Sadly they aren’t really furry related, because they were all written for school. And I’m way to embarrassed to force my classmates to seriously critique my furry romance stories hehe. But if anyone’s interested, stick around and I’ll post them in the near future. Hell, I might even post some art of mine as well, why not?

So I want to make it official that what has been released so far is going to be mostly scrapped or reworked. This has kinda been a long time coming. I’ve grown a lot as a writer since those first couple chapters and I want to start fresh. Plus I kind of rushed into it without a full plan before, but now I have a better idea of the story I want to tell. And can write from here on out with a clear vision and goal.

Hey so this project isn’t dead! I know it’s been a long, long, long time but I’m still working on it. Just very slowly. I’ve taken time to rethink some aspects of the story and the characters. And I am making some changes. I actually have a decent amount of things to make public that I’ve been working with in the background for a while. I mainly just forgot to make any updates. That one is on me. So in the near future, expect some slightly updated art. As well as some more of my thoughts on the creative process.

Here is the Connor time lapse.

I’m pretty proud of the edits I made to the original base. They’re minor but they make a big impact. I went through a few fur patterns as you can see. I’m still not 100% sold on the final pattern but it’s good enough.
