Maybe nature pauses to take you in, too
If you're looking to get into starting seedlings indoors to get a jump on the gardening season, you're in the right place. Let's talk about how to choose a grow light for seedlings. I've found there to be roughly 2 main categories of indoor grow lights: -Cheap ones (like blurples) that will do the trick for young seedlings-Expensive ones with a refined full spectrum which can flower and fruit plants Cheap Grow Lights for Seedlings I find that the cheap lights like blurples are more cost-effective for the first 3-4 weeks of plant growth, whereas the expensive lights will give the plants a huge boost after that and prepare them for life out in the sunshine. One mistake I made was trying to rely on cheap lights to raise my plants up for multiple months indoors. Instead, I now use cheap lights for germination and early [...] CLICK HERE TO KEEP READING FOR FREE

For example right now I've got strawberries as a main crop with clover as a cover crop interspersed. The clover fixes nitrogen, which feeds the soil and is occasionally trimmed short and chopped + dropped. That clover is also acting as a trap crop. With a thriving thrip population that's showing no signs of stopping, you'd think I've got a bit of a problem on my hands - yet I don't. I don't because the thrips are targeting [...] CLICK HERE TO KEEP READING FOR FREE

There's nothing more grounding than digging in the dirt
Finding grubs in your dirt and are wondering if grubs are good or bad for the soil and your garden? Let's get into it... What Are Grubs? Grubs are the larval form of beetles. They typically consume more in their larval stage, and most of their growth happens while they're still underground. Grubs fill a role similar to that of earthworms, before eventually emerging from the soil as fully-grown beetles What Does a Grub Look Like? Are Grubs Decomposers? Yes, grubs are decomposers and help break down dead plant matter. They like cool, moist places filled with decomposing matter. This means they'll feel right at home in your garden soil or your compost bin. You're likely to find grubs in both places if your soil and compost are healthy. As macrodecomposers (big critters) they can break down larger chunks of decaying material which would take a lot longer [...] CLICK HERE TO KEEP READING FOR FREE
