If you're looking to get into starting seedlings indoors to get a jump on the gardening season, you're in the right place. Let's talk about how to choose a grow light for seedlings. I've found there to be roughly 2 main categories of indoor grow lights: -Cheap ones (like blurples) that will do the trick for young seedlings-Expensive ones with a refined full spectrum which can flower and fruit plants Cheap Grow Lights for Seedlings I find that the cheap lights like blurples are more cost-effective for the first 3-4 weeks of plant growth, whereas the expensive lights will give the plants a huge boost after that and prepare them for life out in the sunshine. Trap crops are grown to take some of the pest pressure off of your main crops, by being even more attractive to pests. Let's get into the specifics, and then we'll look at some examples of trap crops you can use in your own garden. What is a Trap Crop? They are a diversion, a metaphorical bone that a gardener throws to the pests so they ignore your real food. For example right now I've got strawberries as a main crop with clover as a cover crop interspersed. The clover fixes nitrogen, which feeds the soil and is occasionally trimmed short and chopped + dropped. That clover is also acting as a trap crop. They typically consume more in their larval stage, and most of their growth happens while they're still underground. Grubs fill a role similar to that of earthworms, before eventually emerging from the soil as fully-grown beetles What Does a Grub Look Like? Are Grubs Decomposers? Yes, grubs are decomposers and help break down dead plant matter. They like cool, moist places filled with decomposing matter.
