“Every day I wake up more and more tempted to send some of my dragons to barbecue those Death Eaters,” Ingrid confessed aloud. “And yes, yes I realize there’s tons that’s wrong with that but you can’t admit that it wouldn’t be satisfying to watch them scatter after something like that.”

“Can’t say I ever pictured a large scale flame grill, but given all that they’ve done to us-... well I can’t say I blame you for that kind of thinking.” He shrugged, because sure it probably wasn’t the best idea to retaliate in the same kind of fashion, people probably claiming that it would make them no better than the Death Eaters themselves but when they caused so much devastation and brought up so many negative emotions, it couldn’t be helped. “Also would be tempted to give the dragon a little treat for doing a job well done.” 

“But they can’t do anything else,” Ronnie said, “What if she doesn’t have enough fight left in her?” she asked, leaning into him as she was pulled into his arms. She couldn’t lift one of her arms to hug him back because of her shoulder but she appreciated it nonetheless, “I don’t know what to do.”

“Sometimes they don’t need to do more then they already have, sometimes it’s up to the person to heal. To let their body repair after being given help by whatever medics give them.” Logan tried to reassure the other. “Well if she’s anything like you then I’m pretty sure she’s never going to run out of that kind of fight.” Logan told her, rubbing her back in what he hoped was a soothing fashion. “All you can do is be there for her, no matter what.”

“Because the healers say so,” Ronnie said, trying to get herself together and failing, “She was in the hospital when the Death Eaters attacked. They’re fairly certain she’s not going to wake up,” she was quick to break down again, a sob catching in her throat as she tried to hold it all back.

“Healers aren’t always one hundred percent when it comes to diagnosis. Sometimes they can give people a sentence and it never comes.” Logan told the other, though he didn’t know if she wanted to hear his optimism right now in case she got her hopes up. When the sob left the others body, Logan moved to pull her close into a hug. “I’m sorry, Ronnie. I really am.”

“No shit.” Came the very dry response at the others obvious observation. “Would you be saying no right now if you didn’t know my career choice right now?” Because he felt like situations like this required all hands on deck depending on what the tasks were of course. He could hardly help with the fighting given that would have been considered getting in the way but he could help with the heavy lifting, with moving things and applying the minimum first aid where necessary given he wasn’t trained in anything else. “My career or somebodies life… I don’t know about you but I think that when put into perspective only one is the right answer. Unless you really believe me to be that selfish?” 

“I mean, I’d probably make sure anyone was on hundred percent sure before going into all of this. It’s not exactly an easy task, so yeah- I guess I would still ask you despite your career choice.” Logan told the other, he knew he could be reckless at times, but that was who he was and he could look after himself. When it came to others though he wanted to ensure they knew what they’d be getting themselves into before putting themselves in danger. “I don’t believe you’re that selfish- I don’t think asking to make sure you don’t mind potentially risking your own life is a selfish thing to ask.”

Ronnie turned back to look straight ahead, hissing a breath in as her shoulder throbbed. She couldn’t even answer him at first. What could she say? She just stared forward in silence for a few minutes, sniffing every so often as she cried. She wiped her eyes to no avail because the tears just kept coming, “I think my mom is going to die.”

Logan simply sat there, let Ronnie work through the emotions that she had built up in her, deciding whether she wanted to talk to him or simply let them sit there offering a quiet kind of comfort to one another. He hadn’t been expecting those words to come from her mouth though, he frowned, not really thinking before taking her hand in his own. “What makes you say that?”

“I’m no expert but I think you’ll survive it. Maybe it’ll even have knocked a little bit of sense into you. I’m not holding out too much hope though.” Aaron murmured, practically glaring at Logan when he gave him that look. “So what can I do to help then. I imagine all the support would be welcomed right now. The faster we get everyone out, the more chance they have of recovering.” Aaron surmised, wanting to do his bit if he could. He wasn’t going to tell Logan to stop because he would have been the exact same if it had been his job. It didn’t mean he wasn’t at a least a little concerned about Logan burning himself out. As much as he claimed to be irritated by Logan, he didn’t hate him. “Are you okay?”

“Hilarious.” Logan spoke, letting out a large breath as the other made a joke. He knew he was probably trying to release some of the tension that was probably very visible in the way that he was currently holding himself and he was grateful for that, even if he was aware that there was nothing that was going to take his mind off of all of this for now. “You’re a Quidditch player.” Were the first words out of his mouth when the other asked what he could do to help and before he could allow Aaron to make some remark on that statement he continued. “As in helping me right now could result in an injury that could have you out of play for some time. Do you want to risk that?” He asked, because he would not be held responsible for the other getting hurt and having to sit out from matches because he decided to help. “Me?” He asked, blinking up at the other once again in confusion. “Yeah-... yeah, I’m fine.” He spoke, though he couldn’t meet his eyes as he answered that. 

“I know this is pretty much an impossibility for you, but stop talking for once in your life and just drink.” Aaron pretty much ordered the male as he shoved the bottle of water into his hand. Analysing the others current state, Aaron frowned lightly as the other continued to prattle on as usual. “Have you got something to clean this up?” He asked, motioning to the cut on the others head. “Do we know how many are still down there? He asked, taking off the thin jacket he’d worn out and for the time being using that to carefully pat at the blood so he could check just how deep the wound went. 

At the others words Logan felt his mouth close, actually listening to the other for once, almost dropping the bottle of water that was being shoved into his hands before finally opening it and drinking more then half of it’s contents. “Not around us and it’s fine, doesn’t even really hurt.” He shrugged, noting that all medical supplies that they once had were probably far from sterile now. “No. I’m never in here for very long, being a field paramedic we tend to mostly drop off in the ER and then get back out there. Also given the first attack, there’s no way of knowing how many people came in- but I can’t just leave until I’ve made sure everywhere down there is clear.” He told the other, gesturing into the direction he had just been before feeling the other try to clean up his injury, looking at him with a small ounce of confusion.

Ronnie had not been home yet. She had gone from fighting the field to fighting at the hospital to crying about her mother in a makeshift hospital set up to checking on her friends to walking through a wizarding park near her home. She was in desperate need of one of her potions. Her meltdown in her mother’s hospital room had led to severe pain once her previous potion had worn off. Her arm essentially hung limp at her side to avoid jolts of pain through her shoulder. She should go home. She needed to go home but her thoughts were scattered and frantic and she ended up on a park bench instead. Tears rolled down her cheek and she trembled. She probably looked like a lunatic, sweaty and frazzled from the day but she couldn’t get herself to move. She saw someone approach, “I…” she began but had nothing else to say. 

“You don’t need to say anything.” Logan commented, moving to take a seat next to her. He wasn’t much in the mood for talking much either, he was still covered in dirt from fighting his way through the rubble to try and rescue as many people as he good from the hospital, still yet to have made it back home due to feeling like there was still more he could do. He let his body relax into the bench, looking up to the sky for a moment and then back to the other. “It never get’s easier, huh.”

“I’m sure you love to believe that. Everyone has to have a dream I suppose.” Came the usual droll response from Aaron as he began to remove the bike and moving it out slightly. “My stance on dopey dogs?” He repeated, sounding a little perplexed by that question for a moment. “When they are actual dopey dogs then they’re fairly acceptable. When it’s a human version, that tends to just make them irritating.” Which about summed their relationship up. “Though I’ve learned neither seem to take the hint.”

“I’m just going to choose to hear the first part of what you said and apply it to myself and forget the latter.” Logan smiled, knowing that the other found him irritating and he really should try to give Aaron his space, let him be and maybe they’d get along more, but he couldn’t help himself. He felt a gravitational pull to the other, wanting to know more about him and why his guard was up so high. “And I’m guessing that hint would be to leave you alone?” He asked, before holding up his hands. “You know if you seriously don’t want me here all you have to do is tell me to fuck off-... but I guess the reason I tend to try and initiate these kind of situations is because I don’t really know anyone too well yet. I mean, sure there are some people I went to school with but it’s been a while since I’ve spoke to them and well-.. yeah.” 

“Sometimes I think you actually enjoy being delusional.” Aaron murmured, more to himself than anyone else. “It depends on the company really. It’s a little like having a big dopey dog following me around where you are concerned, or at least that’s the vibes you have been giving off today.” Logan had seemed intent on spending time with him though he didn’t know why. 

“And I believe that despite all this grumpy, brooding, exterior that you put on- that you do actually like the fact that I can be a little delusional as well as being very persistent.” Logan stated, though he knew that was probably far from the case. The fact the other hadn’t locked him in a closet by now was outstanding and if he did one day do that, well it would be a little ironic and a little to on the nose for him to stay mad. “And what are your stances on dopey dogs?” He asked.

“Is that a raindrop? No, no, please tell me it isn’t!” Aurora’s eyes widened when she felt something wet landing on her arm. She always forgot about bring an umbrella and that day was no exception. Besides, it was only her first dink and she only just started to enjoy the festival. She had a whole list of activities to try and she didn’t want the weather to ruin her plans.

“You know, I think you’re safe.” Logan chuckled, clocking the kid not to far from them who seemed to be terrorizing people with a water pistol, his father clearing trying to chase after him. “Seems like someone has lost control of their kid who seems to be having far too much fun with a water gun, looks like you were a victim of his. I don’t think it was personal though.”

“I’ve just rented this one. I was already with it. Go find a different bike. Preferably on a different continent at this rate.” From the look on the other’s face, he was clearly doing this on purpose. Logan seemed to get a kick out of winding him up and the man had seemed to suddenly get the whim to rent a bike too the moment that Aaron had informed him of his plans.

“Oh come on, you don’t mean that.” Logan commented, taking his hands off the handlebars of the bike the other had in his hands. “If you disliked me that much, you’d never have allowed me to move in.” He pointed out, knowing that the other didn’t seem to be the most sociable or the kind to want to hang out with him much, but he was on a mission to change that. “Do you not want some company? Surely these sort of events are meant to be for friends to hang out with one another, not wallow in loneliness like you normally do.”

“Okay– fair enough. Perhaps I went for a bit of an extreme there,” Andie was able to admit, knowing that the man knew more about this sort of stuff anyways considering it was his profession and not hers. “That is why it’s your job and not mine. Especially when some people are so rude about it too. How do you bring yourself to still heal somebody even after they’ve been a total asshole to you?” she asked with a light laugh.

“Just a little bit.” He pointed out to the other, giving her a small smile to show that he wasn’t pissed. “I’ve had a lot worse, I’ve had a patients find out I was gay on the job and didn’t want me treating them in case they ‘caught it off me’ or “was just using this as an excuse to get my hands on them.” He sighed. “On those days it’s hard to bring myself to do my job, but I just like to think I’m the better man because I’m helping them despite their ignorance.”

“Do you need me to rugby tackle him to the ground to keep him in place for you.” Natalya questioned, humour lilting her words as she watched the interaction between the two men. “I’ve found that there are plenty of people made stupid enough by drink that they don’t know what’s good for them.”

Logan couldn’t help the snort that left his mouth when the other mentioned tackling him to the ground, he was also very pleased that he wasn’t on duty and not in uniform because his response would be very unprofessional. “You know what, I think he’d rather you do that then me.” He commented, noting the slight moon eyed look the woman was getting right now. “I wish I could say this wasn’t an uncommon experience- but sadly it is. Part of me is tempted to just let him go given this was supposed to be my night off and I’m the one who should be a few drinks in and not babysitting strangers.”

“I am fairly certain that a cat scratch is the least of my worries. I am more concerned about just how long I’ll be able to put up with you before I get put into jail for murder.” He uttered, though they both know, despite all his talk, Aaron would never do such a thing. Complaining however was something he was willing to do on a regular basis. “So where is your down time exactly? Because clearly I’m missing it somewhere along the line.”

“You do realise saying that to someone who pays you rent is probably not the best idea.” Logan pointed out, though it wouldn’t be the first time something along those lines came out of Aaron’s mouth in connection with him. “Clearly you are, seems like you don’t take interest in what I do for my hobbies.” He pointed out. “But I go to the gym a lot, I like to exercise, then I have my self defence classes that I teach.” He shrugged, there was also music as well, there were two belongings he took with him when he was kicked out of his house that he couldn’t part with no matter how desperate he was for money, one was his car and the other his guitar. Though he had a feeling Aaron wouldn’t be interested in his musical abilities. 

Asher rolled his eyes at the other. “Logan, I’m fine really, I just missed a step. My head is fine, it can take a little bump on the concrete. I’m pretty positive I don’t have a concussion, I’m pretty sure I’d feel a concussion if I had one.”

“Actually not true, not everyone who has a concussion is aware they have one.” Logan pointed out, “All I’m asking is for you to sit down for two seconds while I check your pupil response, if it’s fine then you can carry on with the rest of your day and I’ll leave you alone.” Logan promised, because he had seen the other hit the floor and even a little hit to the head should be looked over.
