When a journey comes to an end, I happen to turn around and find myself thinking about where it all began.
And since this trip of mine coincides with the end of my school course, the thought flows to my childhood and, for me, to my first day of school when this adventure began.
My path has led me, for years now, to London, the city I loved and has seen me grow in an attempt to express what I was looking for and I am still looking for.
This inner journey of mine, made of research, doubts and even fears, was for me like the flight of an airplane.
First of all because the plane was materially the means of my return, the instrument of constant connection between my origins and my present.
But above all because the plane has become a metaphor for my inner journey, made of anxiety and desire, of waiting and realization.
Today I find myself leaving the waiting room of my first part of life and taking that flight that must lead me to measure myself against the world of work, to understand how what I have done and learned can find its full expression and be recognized.
Never as in this period, I have lived between uncertainties and reality.
And it is with this spirit, in a situation that has profoundly changed us, that I faced this work of mine, trying to represent testimony, gratitude and desire to fly.
After all, the life of every man is similar to a flight: take-off is like a child who runs faster and faster in the anxiety to grow and resemble the grown-ups who generated him, taking off that flight that will take him into the adult world.
The flight from one city to another represents the path of a maturity in the making which, even at the mercy of the winds for or against, tries to go towards a goal also seen as an inner journey that can translate into the affirmation of one's own being.
Landing is the arrival point and can give the profound meaning of a life that takes you to that house where everything is realized and acquires a meaning of accomplished fullness.
In the history of man, up to a hundred years ago, man observed the flight of birds as an expression of freedom, lightness and an impassable human limit.
Today I roll my eyes and see hundreds of airplanes above my head and when I wake up from my indifference I think of those thousands of men who move from one country to another, from one continent to another and I like to fantasize about stories that they can live: a love that unites, a life project that comes true or simply an almost banal path that ends in that going and returning that can often be the stretch of a life.
The people you meet on a plane are an expression of a varied and composite humanity that I like to observe before take-off and during the journey, especially when you encounter turbulence and the plane begins to float like in the waves of the sea.
There are those who pretend nothing and keep an absorbed attitude in reading the newspaper, there are those who stop and nervously start looking around for a reference that can give them security and tranquility, there are those who pray and close their eyes ...
And there are those who - like me - begin to curse the moment he decided to travel fast and not take the train or the car.
