These are some of my personal favorites right now!

Frontiers had good ideas that SEGA themselves made irrelevant to hastily win back the anime brainrotted among us with a terrible post-launch “true ending.” My feelings on Superstars have gone completely sour especially because of the poor attitude SEGA and Sonic Team have expressed towards the 16bit games. I never even liked Generations all that much feeling like a shorter, stiffer, and more awkward Colors to me while Shadow Generations was just that again but with even less content just to make a second run of backtracking Shadow’s character arc that now comes off as a parody of itself at this point. And Crossworlds? Crossworlds was the final straw. It looks bad, it sounds bad, it plays bad, and the fact they had the gall to charge $70 for this is the biggest middle finger and it actually being reduced to “Fortnite: The Kart Racer” is a bigger kick in the teeth. The movies have been the better part of this franchise during this time, but knowing what we know now about Paramount is not giving me any confidence for Sonic 4. The movie’s writers could be forced by Ellison to write Tom and Wade like ICE agents and Amy as a helpless damsel in distress with zero agency of her own—which would become the true biggest character assassinations in this franchise—but the fandom won’t care because Amy’s personality revolves entirely around Sonic again, and I guess Eggman becomes president of the United States with zero consequences and accentuated by an end card from Paramount personally glazing Donald Trump.

The fandom always thinks they’re objective, and yet they’re here no-life posting and changing their talking points so quickly and frequently they’re actually actively burying the real problems this franchise has. But while I’m bringing up the fandom changing their talking points: First Sonic Boom is something to cherish and you’re miserable if you don’t like it, now it’s something to be completely ashamed of to the point that even the mildest attempt of humor is something to attack. Mania was the game fans wanted all along and anything else is settling for mediocrity, now new fans of Mania are being accused as the ones settling because now it’s “poverty slop” just because it’s not fucking AAA. They said the comics are superior to the games, but once there are more people reading Sonic comics they’re suddenly a problem because they aren’t Japanese manga, aren’t drawn with “How to Draw Anime” proportions, or don’t go off on tangents about the author’s primitive views on romance and society(?) They even astroturfed the hell out of Frontiers merely on the idea of it being AAA and it being nominated for GOTY just to demonize the very audience they pressured into supporting the game! They wouldn’t even engage with Sage’s character arc of gaining autonomy from studying Sonic’s compassion and empathy and framed it as something to cringe at and mock, and I find that in particular deeply offensive.

We’re still getting toxic positivity from Sonic fans and people have got…nothing? Not even an attempt of a rebuttal to any?
