But after I heard the ending in the radio adaptation with Clive Merrison and Michael Williams, I couldn't stop thinking about Watson not forgiving Holmes right away

Summary: When Holmes came down in the early hours of the morning, the figure of Doctor Watson was silhouetted in the window, so motionless the detective had almost missed him there. Watson stood with his right hand in the pocket of his trousers and his left arm raised, forearm pressed against the windowpane and supporting his forehead. His fist was tightly balled and his eyes were closed.

Returning from his respectable medical practice, Dr. Watson runs afoul of a senseless act of violence. There's a price to be paid for doing the right thing. He might have always known that - but it is still nice to have the resulting pieces picked up.

This was a lovely little thing to hop into after finishing last Summer after The Beekeeper's Picnic.

holmes has been particularly cross with watson lately. the latest few cases have all gone unsolved, or have rather failed completely, and what do they have in common? a task that holmes has given watson to complete to advance the investigation.

holmes trust in his biographer begins to dwindle, and watson can feel it. when the next case comes along, holmes, naturally, asks watson to accompany him because he just doesn't do cases without watson by his side anymore, but watson declines due to the recent misfortunes. holmes completely blows up, and the two of them get into a serious fight in which holmes makes some rather cruel deductions and quite openly calls watson rather useless.

they make up after that, and all seems back to normal, more or less. more or less, because while watson doesn't hold grudges, he won't forget those words as quickly. and so, whenever there's a new investigation, watson does everything in his power, lifts every rock, and holds open every door, just to prove himself. the little cold he caught a day before? pah! what holmes doesn't know (and is too busy to deduce) can't hurt him.

will watson faint like a swooning maiden because his body has decided to force a shutdown? will holmes get his shit together and stop watson before he works himself into two weeks of bed rest? will watson contribute to the case before being too weak to get up one morning? you decide! the only condition is that both of them apologize - holmes for his words, watson for his recklessness - and cuddle. thats all.

... but gosh, this kid has problems that Tilda thankfully does not.
