Shadow In The Night

“I could easily just give myself up to my brother in exchange he’d let you both go” Castiel responded, finally getting strength again to stand up on his two feet. “Unless, smartass, you want to risk your own life for nothing.”

“And what makes you so sure he’d let us go if you did that? If you ask me, your brother sound like quite the twat,” he rolled his eyes. “I put my life above all else... So if you really must try something, let’s go with that first option.”

“Possible. Yes, probably. But I won’t let that happen. Ten seconds shouldn’t kill you.” Castiel said after a few moments pause between them. He couldn’t let killing someone he didn’t really even know. “The choice is your but I will find another way if you don’t agree to this,” Cas spoke, more because he didn’t want anything to go wrong. 

“And what other way is there?” he scoffed, staring down at the angel. “Please, enlighten me. I’d love to hear this grand idea of yours.” He knew there wasn’t any other choice, otherwise, the angel would’ve done it already. 

Castiel sat and watched the vampire closely, looking upward at him. He had suffered enough guilty for doing things that hurt people and now more than ever was he trying to stop. “I do. I want to check on my siblings and friends but I also don’t want to hurt you,” he admitted. “Are you sure this is what you want?" 

Lawrence paused a moment, clenching his jaw tightly as he thought for a moment. The other man was currently sleeping, and it was taking everything in him to keep from draining the mutt dry. Normally he wouldn't have restrained himself but he was smart enough to keep from pissing off this angel who seemed to care far too much about everything and everyone. “Will it kill me? Is it possible for me to die from.. this? Your true form?”

Castiel partially could understand his restless and angered emotion toward him. Being stuck here was not ideal but he’d rather that the latter and risking the chance of killing both of them in the process. He was feeling weak. “I’m an angel of the Lord. Do you even know what my true form could do to your eyes?” he questioned the vampire. 

Lawrence grunted, unwilling to admit that he had next to no knowledge about angels and demons. He was hungry, in pain, and exhausted. He just wanted to get out of this mess. “I’ll close my eyes then. Besides, I’m a vampire. I can heal. Surely you want out of here just as badly, yes?”

“Oh those.” he glanced to them, showing no remorse whatsoever. Why would he? Logan remained where he were, he didn’t move and he certainly wasn’t going to run away now that this stranger had seen what he had done. He could handle himself and he was sure the scene around him proved that. “Fun. Life long mission. Hunger - perhaps. Though not in a fangy sense.”

Lawrence was intrigued to say the very least. He was unsure if this man was mentally stable, or just a general psychopath, but he found himself wanting to find out. “Life long mission you say?” he questioned. “Revenge?”

The veins under his eyes didn’t scare her. Elena was more concerned on being the only person in the place, so she checked over her shoulder, just to be sure there were only the two of them in there. She pursed her lips, and looked down to him, “I’ve been the happiest in the last couple of months than I’ve been for my entire life, Lawrence. I have a home to go back to, friends who supports me, and family… You should let me show you this version of me one of these days”

He merely rolled his eyes and scoffed, as if the idea of her being normal was almost offensive. If he was being completely honest, this version of Elena was intriguing, but more so in the way one watches a car wreck. You can’t look away. T him, this type of life for a vampire was a train wreck waiting to happen. Nothing good ever lasted. He learned that the hard way many years ago. “And why exactly would I want to do that? So you can try to kill me with your boring existence?”

Elena was late night studying at the caffeteria, catching up with all the topics she missed while she was on her honeymoon when she heard a voice. Once she hadn’t heard in a long while, and honestly didn’t expect to hear anytime sooner. She had managed to solve her blood thing by just taking it from a regular cup… 

He realized the scent was coming from her cup, and he let the veins emerge from beneath his eyes just to mess with her before letting his face return to normal. “Do you ever do anything remotely fun anymore, Elena?” he asked as he walked towards her, sitting on the table front of her and disregarding the books that had been spread before her.

Turning around when the voice came echoing towards him Julian sighed shoving the fella back into a line of four others who were compelled to stand there, for as long as they could till the blood dripping from each of them landed them on the floor. “It was before you interrupted.”

Lawrence quirked a brow at the man as he took in the scene before him. “Well by all means, don’t let me stop you. I’d hate to interrupt an artist and his work,” he smirked, almost mockingly.

Normally, Hayley would put up a fight and demand he tell her, but she was exhausted – and it probably showed on her face. “Fine.” She shrugged, sitting down with a sigh, facing away from him again and pulling her knees to her chest as she looked out into the darkness.

He could tell the answer didn’t satisfy her but she also didn’t push him on it. He felt the urge to explain himself. “May I sit with you?” he questioned, gesturing to the spot next to her.

“– With?” She asked, raising her brows and crossing her arms, wondering if this is what they had become – strangers who stuck to very brief explanations. That’s certainly what it felt like, anyways.

Lawrence glanced away from her for a moment before meeting her gaze once more. “I doubt you’d truly be interested in my activities,” he said, feeling that strange pang of guilt once more.
