You're right that within the story, this is treated as something that happens as a result of her trauma, but it's still weird, especially because her brother, who's also traumatized, doesn't act that way. It makes you think about why Arakawa chose to make this her response to trauma. Another thing that irked me is that she constantly refers to Yuru as her older brother and practically worships him as someone who's above her when they're literally twins. And you could argue that he is technically older than her, but only by a couple of hours if even that. The difference in age isn't significant enough to be relevant, or at least, it shouldn't be. We get it. He was born first, but so what? Why bring it up constantly unless you want yet another thing that positions her as beneath him? From my experience (and the experience of thd several other twins I know), we never refer to the other as being older/younger because in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter, we're still the same age. We're equals. And I think Asa and Yuru should be treated as equals as well.
