Would you stay in this luridly coloured piglin village?
This is part of a project to develop different architectural styles and ways of life for communities in various nether biomes. Villages donβt generate here, but I wouldnβt put it past humanity to adapt to an environment that is dangerous to them. Iβm fascinated imagining what their lives would look like.
Building supplies! Theyβd use shroom lights and crimson stems for everything (obviously)β¦ And what are nether bricks made of? I really donβt know lol, I assumed nether rack, plus thereβs a Fortress nearby, so I used that for a lot of foundations.
Demographics! The presence of piglins in crimson forests and the general pink intensity villages end up with in these areas makes me want to put snout flags everywhere, so I decidedβ¦ villagers and piglins live in harmony here, and no iron golems are allowed, because they always fight with piglins >:β(
Culture! Due to the strong colours, and the fact that piglins fight hoglins to the death in the street regularly only to get distracted by each otherβs bling, I imagine these people are passionate and fearless. Their buildings have that square shape because they donβt need slanted roofs to keep off rain, but the angles and simplicity of them make me think of boldness and directness. Since piglins must eat hoglin pork, they are probably the kind of people who make bacon their personality, and arenβt squeamish about eating things that look really similar to them.
Language! I wonβt make them a language, but Iβm giving them namingβ¦ styles. That is, the villagers are named things like Inferno, Bonecrusher, Magma-lanche, and other hardcore things inspired by their climate. The pet names for their dogs are things like Bloody and Gorey (unfortunately, but isnβt the ground they walk on literally congealed blood?). The piglins, meanwhile, have a similar naming style, except itβs all in Pig Latin. So, a piglin with a name meaning Golden ended up being called Oldengay. He died fighting a hoglin for no goddamn reason. F.
Portal? Walking through a portal ends up in zombification for piglins, so Iβve decided that in this society, portal use is frowned upon, feared and misunderstood. I also got this idea because everyone in the entire village was trying to climb a narrow cliffside and fall to their deaths because they hated it so much there I guess, and while trying to get them all down safely, I discovered the coolest little cave and built a staircase up to it. Thatβs where a heavily fenced off portal is secluded. Then everyone still tried to leaveβ¦ On the other side of the portal, they have a bare bones shelter. Itβs in a boring old field, but they are so weirded out by the nearby lake, the place is armed to the teeth and they donβt venture out. They donβt have beds, even in the Overworld, because why would they know about beds?
