Like. It is very clear as their friendship becomes stronger and more closeness aspects are referenced that he does enjoy her as a partner, like. In the first movie where she punches and then kisses him, he says ‘yeah I guess I could get used to it’ (something along that line). He does ENJOY it, but rarely initiates.

In the tv series Race to the Edge, there isn’t often that he specifically focuses on being romantic with her--he is, primarily, her friend. He cares deeply for her, when she falls sick with what normally would be a deadly illness, he goes searching for a dragon that as far as anyone in his home was aware, was extinct. He found an endangered species(?) of dragon to save his friend from death. It’s clear even from this one story I can remember clearly that he cares deeply for her. But they BARELY kiss in Race to the Edge, if at all, as far as I can remember of it.

I can’t remember clearly of the second movie, and especially considering it’s more of a movie about the dragons and finding his mother, but the scene at the start--that tiny crag of an island--The more ‘intimate’ or ‘romantic’ actions were ones that Astrid initiated, not Hiccup. And again, he cares for her, but more as a close friend than strictly purely romantic.

Anyway I’m hitting Hiccup Haddock with the Aromantic-spectrum beam. He’s clearly into it a little bit but it does Not occur to him naturally. Cupioromanticism I think

In my HC I guess he can be also very passionate, but this is something he keeps for their private moments.
