no but like….. the people who are trying to say this wasn’t queer baiting literally make 0 sense.

like. you think that people who have read the script, who know what’s happening, saying “yeah, mike and will are going to discuss their feelings, and it’ll be a positive experience, and wills sexuality is going to be addressed- because he is into someone (which, by the way, that person is not el”, and that content being shared en-mass by official accounts…. isn’t queer baiting?

it’s not like the fucking…. official social media accounts got their official status by being ran by some random, unauthorized third party with no relation to the writers. it’s not like “will is loved and supported” is a opinion which actors can have- it’s a statement of fact, coming from people who know the plot.

it doesn’t matter if you think queer people were stupid for thinking they could be supported and be represented, you can see how there was an increase of thousands of people who were hopeful for byler, prompting more people to watch volume two. 

regardless of whether or not you personally had hope, official sources of stranger things content, sources designed to create excitement and hype for the show, said that they were excited to see byler in season four, and we got so little confirmation, people are still denying will being gay.

People saying this whole scene is about Will wanting to stay younger because he lost his childhood are not wrong but they’re just seeing half the story here.

This line was added here because Will has always been queer-coded and he was experiencing something only queer people understand to the bones. People around you, cishet people around you will grow and get partners that their families will approve of, that they can take to parties, that they can kiss in public; but Will is falling into the realization that he cannot. That he doesn’t like girls, and never will and that his friends will “move on” with their lives without him.

That whole season ached me so much because of that feeling of extremely loneliness, of wanting to go back when these things just weren’t important/didn’t exist. The destruction of castle Byers, the place that help keep him ALIVE through trauma is just another symbolism of how he has no safe places whatsoever, not with his friends and most definitely not with himself.

Explain this to me then:
