I just love the layers of meaning there, when you think about it. Lestat both mocks the fact that Armand wants to « bed him » (god he’s OBSESSED with L), while also joking that he’s a daddy that puts his « child » (aka Daniel 😆) to sleep, and sadly also has killed many people (referring to the « death bed »).

Dude, this call-back must have stung for Louis 😂! Lestat is truly the Brat Prince™️, making fun of the fact that Louis thought he wrote that song, he’s so petty… I keep being reminded that even in a song written mostly about Gabriella, everything has to come back to Louis somehow. God I love them bad 😍
This one is so quotable!! If I think about it for too long I might doom-cry, so that’s all I’ll say for now (the French heatwave hit me hard, I can’t cope 😫)

Alright, my thoughts on Lestat, Louis and Claudia after watching 3x03 :
!!BEWARE, SPOILERS AHEAD for TVL Episode 3!!
Omg the parallels! I have to rant, I LOVED it and it broke me :
Lestat "pretending" to weep and be hurt by the stutter, saying he is not like Louis, affected by Daniel's probing. No real bloody tears. But I think deep down what he's saying is true : he's embarrassed by it, and his ego is affected by the fact that he's not famous enough, that "no one cares", that no one sees and loves the real him.
"I'm the vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac", INJECT IT! God it's SO romantic in a twisted way!! I hope this idea is developed, how similar they really are, deep down. Even though Lestat prefers to think otherwise.
AND THEN Louis shows up in the episode, almost like Lestat willed him into existence. OUGH, CINEMA 🙏
-> Moving on to the Claudia/Bruce VS. Lestat/Magnus. IT HURTS SO MUCH, GOD!! :
Louis sitting in front of an entire wall depicting how The Fang Gang™️ was going to kill Lestat. Brewing in his anger, waiting to strike. This shot is INCREDIBLE, I could talk about it for hours (Louis' head where Lestat's should be on the poster, the pages with his words printed and highlighted telling people how to poison and kill Lestat, OUTCH)
Lestat seing Magnus, like hallucinations, like Louis did in season two... They're both so hunted omg 😭.
Claudia's word in her diary reflecting what happened to Lestat. Calling the abuse and assault for what it is (gosh she's so strong I LOVE her 🥲❤). Louis' voice calling it out, how atrocious Lestat's transformation really is. Like they're the only ones that see Lestat, the real him…
Magnus listing Lestat's fledglings (the drummer?? TC ? I've yet to unpack that), his muses "at the long table" and Lestat losing it when his maker mentions Claudia.
Even if you wanted to argue that Lestat wasn't SAed (the visuals are there but "discrete"), Claudia's words and Louis' voice forces you to acknowledge it.
Claudia and Lestat blaming themselves, hating themselves for what happened, forever tinted by the assault…
-> Closing statements, while I wipe my tears :
1- Lestat did tell the truth in season one (although a less graphic version of it) to Claudia and Louis, about his turning. A sign of trust and good faith. And he hates that Louis told Daniel, that it is in the book. He wants to "fix it", to the point of romanticizing his own abuse in his retelling. Only his family knows the raw truth, and Claudia is the only one who can truly understand, yet can't believe it in season 1.
2- Because of all of that, I can't believe that the train scene™️ really played out that way in season one. There is no way Lestat could have done that without seeing and feeling the parallels, without awaking his own trauma. That's why, and I quote, he says it "never.fucking.happened".
3- In a way, I hate the fact that Claudia's assault is used, narratively, to unveil Lestat's. I almost wished her pain could be recognized individually, as it's own thing. But in a fucked up, poetic way, I think it illustrates the focal point of the entire show : everything is about Lestat and Louis. Loustat is the red string that ties everything together. She was created by and for them, she is their mirror image. Louis probably wants to think that he just avenged her, but he also killed the guy that attempted to murder Lestat. And in the end, it didn't even help. The Loneliness strikes, for Claudia, for Louis, and for Lestat. PERIOD!!
All aboard! Just saw the cutest idea in a fic and it is now part of my headcanon.
Without spoiling anything (go read it it's great), I just love the idea that Lestat would sing traditional songs/lullabies in Auvergnat to Claudia. How sweet and domestic ❤, let's learn regional dialects with Uncle Les!

As a French fan and a very new ✨enjoyer✨of iwtv and tvl, I was really surprised and interested to see how people reacted to the Auvergne sequence in 3x02 / 1x02.
So, since I’m a very annoying nerd that loves languages, I wanted to yap about why I personally think it’s great that they speak English and not French.
[I was inspired by some tweets I’ve seen, including this one highlighting the very cool costuming choices for the next episode, shoutout 🫶]
At first I was surprised by the use of English, because you would expect all of these flashbacks to be in French, right ? I even saw some fans say it would be more historical accurate. But then I remembered what I was taught about the French language, and actually…
In the 18th century in France, most people didn’t « speak French » historically (at least not the language we know today). In Auvergne in 1772, all these characters would learn and speak the regional dialect, called Auvergnat. It’s an occitan language, closer to Latin or Catalan than French. So historically speaking, nope, the Lioncourts wouldn’t speak French in 1772! 😂

I find that fact illuminating, because it leads me to believe that (at least in my headcanon) :
1- Lestat didn’t know the language spoken in Paris until he got there, so it must have been quite difficult for him to find his footing. I’m now even more inclined to forgive Sam Reid for his French accent and pronunciation (I think he’s brilliant in the show btw 😍), because realistically poor Lestat must have struggled back then too 😂 !
2- Gabrielle/Gabriella would feel even more alienated in this family, because not only was she canonically Italian (and probably spoke the dialect of her hometown), she most likely had to learn Auvergnat (and not the more widely known French language) to understand her husband. It also explains why she wouldn’t have a French accent ^^

how do they still get along after 16 years? when they met, they had a lot in common, they were both chill, and had similar senses of humor. you have to be accepting of other people's personalities. start with friendship. you have to like the other person. they don't understand couples who are relieved when their partner isn't around so they can enjoy their stuff. dan: "why aren't you playing dnd with your wife?!"

when did they start planning the hard launch? when they came back from the dead, they decided to be themselves more without revealing the relationship. after tour, they started thinking about what the future of dan and phil would look like with more freedom. they started planning the podcast a month after the tour. dan felt that for them to do everything they wanted, the hard launch had to come first.

I really had myself convinced for a few weeks that I didn’t have enough to say about Phandom to make a video. Well. That was not correct. I do have a lot of thoughts actually.
But as someone who never participated in the tumblr fandom, I’m also curious to hear from other people!!
