Episode 5: The Matrix is Real, Mark Leidner
A few weeks ago, the good people at APRIL Lit Fest flew in Mark Leidner to do a number of events for their insane and yet somehow totally professional festival. We tore him away from his duties as a featured reader to sit down over a big ol' bowl of accidentally very good ramen and talk about the novel he's working on, the reality of the Matrix, and the capacities of Quentin Tarantino's audience. Listen now.Â
Witch's RamenÂ
4 pkgs Ramen. Original Flavor.Â
4 Eggs, preferably not untimely ripped from the womb.Â
Pork? Pre-sliced.
Mushroom, toadstooled.Â
Green Onion, cut into tiny circles.Â
Nori, confettiedÂ
Labsters, for snackin.Â
Fortune Cookies, the more redundant the fortunes the better.Â
HELLO PANDA 4 LIFE
Put a lot of water on a rolling boil path.Â
Spend a second chompin Labsters, taking guesses at what they smell like.Â
Get that mis en place in place: chop up all the shrooms and green onions, open up meat package.Â
Rip open packages of ramen, reserve flavor packets.Â
When water's at a good boil, gently place ramen squares into pot.Â
Reduce heat to Med-High and let that go for a sec.Â
After a minute check your water: if you've got too much, dump some out. You'll know.Â
Tear open flavor packets and dump them all over the ramen. Tap around the edges and bottom of packet to make sure you got all of it out. Flavor known to cake.Â
Add vegetables.Â
Stir.Â
Let it go for another sec.Â
Add meat.Â
Stir.
Crack eggs into pot. Keep them a good distance from each other.
Place lid (plate) over pot.Â
Let that roll for a minute and half or so.Â
Serve it up in a big ol' bowl!
