♊ ― “you have one of those?” and to shortly follow, a genuine laugh. “i guess i always suspected it, i just didn’t think it could be proven.” kai took that moment right after teasing her to press his lips to hers. they lingered there for a moment, a instinctive pause to savor the moment. it felt different, somehow, from the ones before. it made him want to rest his palms on her as opposed to touching her. he wanted to hold her. something to anchor him as her fingers lathered the shampoo against his scalp. when his eyes opened, all he saw was her smile, all he felt was her warmth. “i think so, yeah,” he whispered.

“i know, it’s hard to believe.” teasing was easy and light, and the bennett could have done it all day. the feeling of his lips against her own was pleasant, and completely different than the hungry desperation of the kisses that preceded it. it was softer, and the feeling lingered longer in the aftermath as he whispered his answer to her as her fingers rested on his scalp and her smile only grew. “good.”

Damon gave her a little smile. “Alright, enough necro-loser talk. You’d be proud of me, Kai annoyed me and I didn’t try to kill him.” Not that Damon would win in a fight with the Parker now.

There’s a flash of surprise on her face at the mention of the Parker, and the Bennett nodded gently. “Yeah, I am proud of you...” She draws the sentence out as she considered her options, deciding to rip the bandaid off. “There’s actually something I need to tell you about Kai.”

♊ ― his head shook slowly. “i don’t believe you.” could they equate miscommunication to their rocky relationship, or was it just the wrong people at the wrong time?  to kai, they were always destined to meet, but that wasn’t as flattering for bonnie from the start. her grams had put her in his path to save her life, not his ― but his coven’s days were numbered. whatever layers had survived through that snag earlier in the living room was peeled off and the heretic stepped into the warm spray. water’s streaming through his hair as he turns to look at her; smiling. “then get in here.”

“oh no, you don’t? that just breaks my heart.” the laughter that poured from her lips was genuine, and any and all stress from the moments before has slipped free from her muscles. after the trip to her bedroom to fix the glaring error, she’d returned to the bathroom, striping before joining him in the shower, a smile plain on her lips. while things could have turned out more like they had on the couch, instead the bennett craved something else, reaching up to help him wash his hair, clean himself off, it was more intimate and gentle then she’d ever imagined possible, and for the first time in longer than the bennett witch could recall, her smile never left her lips. “do you believe me now?” 

“It sure feels like I am.” He said with a shrug. He thought over the years he’d get used to being human, but he just hated it more and more. “Whatever you need me to do, let me know. Human Damon at your service.”

“We all feel useless right now, Damon. It’s uncharted territory.” Then again, when was anything they navigated charted territory? She could tell the fact he was mortal now made him feel helpless, and she wished she could find a way to comfort him, but she kept coming up empty. “My best friend Damon at my service.”

🃏 ― That made Niko laugh. “I meant witches but.. yes― those too.” Headmaster Forbes was popular and there was no confusion as to why. She was very charismatic, and beautiful. He noticed the change in the girl. “You can ignore me. I am usually not this, nosy?”

“Oh, sorry.” There’s gentle laughter of her own at the mistake, and she gently nods along as he agrees with her. “It’s fine... I just haven’t been home in a long time... it brings up some memories I would rather forget.”

Damon nodded. “I feel useless. Even if we could find this guy I can’t even do anything to help.” He admitted. Damon had always been in the middle of the fight. He didn’t know how he could sit back and watch everyone else take on the necromancer.

“You’re not useless, Damon.” she tried to reassure her best friend, though she wasn’t sure how much help it was. She knew how it felt to be utterly helpless, and right now, with their hands tied behind their backs, it was getting worse by the moment. “We’ll figure it out, and we’ll save everyone.”

stefan  could  feel  his  heart  beat  a  mile  a  minute ;  unsure  if  the  bennett  witch  wanted  to  see  him  .  their  history  wasn’t  one  he  was  proud  of  mostly  because  all  the  bad  shit  that  happened  to  bonnie  was  because  of  him  .  he  had  remembered  killing  enzo  who  happened  to  have  been  someone  bonnie  loved  .   it  was  something  he  couldn’t  forgive  himself  for  ,  at  least  not  until  she  did .

‘ i  wasn’t  sure  if  you  were  home  .  i’m  not  even  sure  why  i’m  here .’  

he  found  himself  stumbling over  his  words  .  a  part  of  him  wished  he  was  more  prepared  but  he  wasn’t  .  besides  how  do  you  prepare  telling  a  friend  that  they’re  sorry  for  killing  their  partner  .  evergreen  eyes  looked  up  at  bonnie  before  his  large  has  found  comfort  in  his  pants  pockets  .  

‘  i  guess i  just  wanted  to  make  sure  that  your  were  okay  .’  he  confessed  .

two words, it had taken all of two words to bring back flashes of the worst day of her life, and the witch simply stared at the salvatore as he rambled on, explaining how he had come to land on her doorstep. she wasn’t listening, not really, no, she was deafened by the sounds of her own screams in her ears from a decade before, and she was only brought back to the present as he admitted that he simply wanted to make sure she was okay. she hadn’t noticed that her grip on the doorframe had become so tight until she loosened her fingers and they ached, the pain keeping her grounded. “i’m alive, which is a lot more than i can say for enzo.” her words are bitter and jagged, though her tone is more defeated than anything as she stares at the former vampire. part of her wondered how it was fair that he was back and enzo wasn’t, but then the bennett was reminded of the simple fact that things were never fair for her. “your brother will be happy to see you.”

🏺 ― “I don’t behave,” he parroted her, a monotone but light twist to his tone. “Consider this.. me being idle.” He didn’t seem all to bothered with admitting that she saw right through him. If anything, he seemed amused; nearly beaming as if she had showered praise. “You’re right ― I don’t care. I want to hear what you have on the Necromancer.”

“Idle? Since when have you been the kind to stand by idly? Usually, you find what you want and you take it... worked out so well for you last time, didn’t it?” Was she mocking the psychic? Absolutely. Was she even the tiniest bit sorry? Not at all. “And why would I tell you anything? Last time I checked, I have no reason to tell you anything.”

Damon nodded. “Thanks, Bon.” He’d trust what she said, for now at least. “Good. About the town being in the state that it is. Found anything to get us out of this mess?”

“Not yet, but I’ve been distracted.” It wasn’t a lie, and while she’d enjoyed every moment of the distraction, it didn’t solve their problem any sooner. “I’m working on it though.”

🃏 ― “Yes, one of the many,” he corrected with a soft smile. He hadn’t intended to mention Elena, seeing how she had come to find out who he was.. but it would slowly make its rounds eventually, wouldn’t it?  Or would his descendent keep his dark secret, he wondered. “Then life got in the way?”

“Caroline always has so many friends... it’s the personality.” It was easy to see why, Caroline could be a bright ray of sunshine on a rainy day, when she got out of her own head of course. Thinking of her friends brought a weak smile to her face and she nodded. “Yeah... something like that.”

     “It’s not just you doing the spell . I’m only letting you know if you want to get rid of the necromancer , it be better  work together on this . Penelope , Josie, Lizzie, Sage, Joey, and others are going to help along with those in the school who plans on doing so . While you all work on that I’ll be breaking the the hold he has on the dead and placing the dark magic where no one will ever get to it . Not everyone can be saved . and I don’t really like kai . Don’t know for sure if it will break the hold for everyone . But the necromancer has to go . Whether you do it or not , I don’t care . Like I said , it’s best to work together .”

“We all want to get rid of the necromancer. If I didn’t, I would have left, but I’m here to help. I’m happy to work together, but I won’t do it if you only care about saving who you deem worthy of it. It’s best to work together when you have the same goals, and the same priorities. I don’t think you do, Hope.” She wasn’t calling the tribrid a liar, she couldn’t be entirely sure where her desires lied, but she knew she wouldn’t risk losing her friends again, and she wouldn’t risk losing the people that meant the most to her again. “I can’t do the spell with a good conscience.”

“Thanks, Bon. I just hope it’ll work out this time you know.” He couldn’t help but worry the past would catch back up to them. “How are you?”

“I think it will... after everything you guys have been through, I think if anyone deserves it, it’s you guys.” As for his question well, that made the Bennett smirk gently before she admitted “Other than the fact the town is a mess? Great, actually.”

♊ ― “are you really sorry?  really?”  he was enjoying this, thoroughly so. bonnie was leading him like the excitable puppy he was and he was soaking up every ounce of it. the temptation to peek was monumental, but kai just pouted his lip and swung his head back. “aight,” he surrendered, slipping into the bathroom to carry on his task.

“oh, so very very sorry.” the bennett was teasing, as if that was abundantly obvious from her tone, and she was loving every second of it. the only thing that was preventing it from being perfect was the sight of mrs. cuddles sitting on her bed where she’d left her the last time she’d slept in her bed. while she’d grown ever more attached to the bear while traveling the world, and kept her in bed with her for the majority of the time, she wasn’t quite sure she wanted to share her bed with the bear and kai parker, so the bear had to be displaced for the time being. leaning over to press a kiss to the heretics cheek with a smirk, the bennett excused herself to go back to her room, grabbing ms. cuddles from her pleasant position in the center of her bed to set her to the side of her nightstand before returning back to the gemini. “okay, all set.”
