i am allowed to spend my time creating things, even if they are not beautiful.

there is no such thing as a "real job." all forms of work are real and valid.

there is nothing that i need to accomplish to be worthy. i am already worthy.

doing nothing is good for my soul.

i am not defined by what i produce.

my worth cannot be measured by my paycheck, my job title, or a list of professional or academic achievements.

i do not need to monetize my hobbies, it is enough to spend time doing something i love.

The Podcast Job: Life Lessons from Leverage

My friend and I (the one I convinced to watch Leverage for the first time last year) have been discussing the show in our daily phone calls since she started the pilot. A few weeks ago, we thought "hey... why not record it?" Each week, we'll go through the lessons we've learned about writing and about life in general, and we'd love to share it with other fans. Questions, observations, favorite lines—we want to discuss it all!

We've recorded to first few episodes, and I'll start posting them on Podbean, Spotify, and Apple podcasts when I have them edited. We can't wait to share them with you!

and part of that is certainly breanna growing up knowing a bunch of con artists, but i think another part is her being a lesbian of color. she must be used to twisting parts of herself to be less visible, even with her immediate environment embracing her as she is.

and with her characters she seems to get a sort of revenge, because she loves to play up different aspects of herself. she gets to wear cool suits or be an absolute weirdo. she gets to walk into a room and say that she's in charge, that she actually has knowledge others desperately need. she gets to tell men no or she gets to play out the exact type of people who have ruined the world for her.

Mina Episode: 4x01 The Long Way Down Job Character: Sophie Uh, excuse me. Do you know who I am? Oui. But do you know who I am? No. W-we've never met. Huh. Vraiment? Mount Rainier. We have the hot toddies. "Oh, Mina, come to my tent. I'll warm you up." No? You don't call me? I don't have your number. Vraiment? "Oh, Mina, you type it for me. I'm too drunk to touch the little buttons."

Agent Hagen Episode: recurring; first appearance 1x03 The Wedding Job Character: Parker Relax. We're with the bureau. Howdy. Special Agent Thomas. This is special agent Hagen. She's fresh out of Quantico. I'm showing her all the hot spots, you know. Uh-Huh. Oh, by the way, We got your memo. We're moving it up the chain.

Diego Messi aka Count Chocula Episode: 4x08 The Boiler Room Job Character: Nate No, but this guy, he's only focused on one commodity, cocoa. Some people even call him "Count Chocula." "Count Chocula"? That's a stupid moniker. It is stupid, real stupid, but he didn't choose it. He's not one of those guys who gives himself a dumb nickname, you know?

Kenneth Crane Episode: 3x06 The Studio Job Character: Eliot Hi, I'm Kenneth Crane. And, uh, I'm gonna sing a song… I'm gonna sing… sing a song I wrote about… the road not traveled. I been meaning to tell you, this, uh, Kenneth Crane? He is blowing up on Twitter. He's got a fan page and everything. It's a pretty good picture, too.
