Buck has been feeling insecure about gaining weight as he gets older, but his family and friends are there to offer some perspectives on why it's not a bad thing. Eddie, of course, is obsessed with his beefie himbo boyfriend and does more than just quell Buck's worries.

1. Eddie addressing his isolation and asking for help and support whether its from Buck (which would make the most sense) or not. it’s really the only direction that would make s9 make sense.

2. Buck only temporarily fostering Theo bc there’s no way he doesn’t have family and (sorry but) i think buck should experience that loss. it would make him rethink his relationship with chris and how undefined his family units are and be a growing moment.

3. ACKNOWLEDGMENTS. buck needs to say he’s bi. eddie needs to come out (gay, bi, queer, ace, demi, something). chim needs to make hen 2nd in command officially. define the roles within the house. eddie should become an official paramedic. ofc i want buddie but even if its not a romantic relationship i think a familial relationship between them and chris/a life partner relationship (even platonic) has to be established. everyone needs to talk about their trauma bc so much is looming unresolved. too much has been established and then immediately dropped which leads me to

4. following through!! finish the plots they started in s9 and whatever news ones are introduced.

5. go smaller not bigger. stop jumping the shark (sending ppl to space) and ruminate on the insane shit that’s already happened. i want intimate conflict like Eddie confronting the fact that he isolates himself or Chimney contending with the captaincy beyond “am i good enough”. like totally being re-established bc rn he’s lowkey rude instead of funny and kinda floundering with how to lead

6. some begins again episodes. they don’t have to have flashbacks but lowkey id write them just like the OG episodes. i’m thinking Hen, Chim, and Eddie out of the core 4 and maybe Maddie and May as well

7. i’d love to see a few longer detective plot lines (like 4 episodes long so we’re finding out info as athena does) instead of a bunch of short plots. more like the jeffery hudson story line where its spread out.

8. utilise the secondary and tertiary recurring character in the show like earlier seasons (Peppa, Karen, Josh, Chris and the other kids, Terry, Toni) maybe even bring back characters like Lena, her captain, etc. to make the world feel consistent and greater than just the 118. wouldn’t mind brad or a mention of hotshots. hell, they could recast michael. i miss the 911verse feeling like a universe.

9. accurate and sympathetic ADHD portrayal. get buck and theo diagnosed. get buck on meds. let him feel better. this can be a quick and easy c plot that only has to be maintained by casually mentioning it once or twice.

10. happy and soft moments. everyone loves the drama and gore and action but we haven’t gotten many pleasant, reassuring scenes with the characters until the very end of major plots/the montage at the end of the season. i think letting characters have a happy moment or two balances out then trauma they experience (plot wise, so it feels like things arent rushed) and makes it all the more devastating when something does go wrong. a lot of the heavy hitting moments on 9-1-1 haven’t hit so hard because something is constantly happening to everyone. peppering in gentle moments (hen with karen and the kids, maddie relaxing chatting it up with josh, silly jokes on less serious calls, making the show feel like there’s life outside of each episode)

i think at this point the baiting is so bad that it’s literally difficult to watch the show because the characters are essentially being dangled off a cliff and never fall. there’s no consequences, no impact.

the storylines for other characters aren’t as interesting because so much SHOULD happen for buck and/or eddie (eddie coming out, one or both having a feelings realisation, eddie leaving the church and finding spirituality elsewhere, even just a real conversation instead of subtext, no buddie cannon but buck and chris getting father/son moments, buckeddiechris family acknowledgment, etc.)

like we got four episodes of athena doing nothing in space but 3 of hen having a chronic illness then 1.5 of buck having a dependency AND like .75 of the donor baby. <10 minutes of eddie nde in the final episode, no healing. athena shot. no healing.

the writers have backed themselves into a corner and at this point it seems like even RG and OS are getting baited and put into nonsensical storylines they wouldnt otherwise want because tim thinks limbo is what keeps fans watching.

its gone from being something unmentionable because there’s a will they/won’t they to being a massive plot hole that makes the entire show feel empty and unrounded. if there is an ep focusing on other characters, the pacing has to be bizarre to keep buck and eddie apart (athena’s opener lasting to long) but not apart for too long so fans don’t lose interest (rushing hen’s story). if they’re focused on buck or eddie they either have to forget the other character exists and write ofc plots and dialogue or it seems like the show is about to make them canon only for another nothing burger.

i think buck meeting a kid like him (with trauma and adhd) and realising he’s still sweet and loveable and there are ways to help (medication, focused attention, generally just supporting him) a kid like that is important.

Buck, now out as bi, wants to experience some bomb dick after a few disappointing men. In comes Eddie and his knowledge of anatomy. What happens when lady killer Evan Buckley is on the other side of the equation? He gets dickmatised by his boy bestie.

“I have questions about men,” Buck tells his friend.

Well. That’s stating the obvious.

Eddie nods encouragingly. He smiles.

“I know I’ve been with men and women, but…”

but he’s trying to be a good guy so he says it doesn’t change a thing. (where do we heard that dor a second time???) then shannon asks for a divorce and he’s literally making this face: 😬

every time i watch the show back, i want to see that hint of young love between eddie and shannon but it just reads like two strangers (bc they really don’t seem to know each other even if there was a time where they did) trying to make a relationship work for their kid.

like eddie is upset but if we compare it to any time Buck has gotten hurt, he barely blinks. shannon DIES and eddie knows she’s dying in front of him. AND THATS HIS REACTION??

that’s not to say she doesn’t look youthful and beautiful, its just how they style her hair and clothes like… guys you could have tried to make her seem like a teen mom.

Hen Begins Again!!! I want to see Hen thinking about her life as Chim offers her the lieutenant’s position. Dive into her childhood: her first love, absent dad, healing from being shot.

Then her adult years: marrying Karen, taking in Denny, meeting Chim, then Bobby.

Before she can say yes or no, there’s a call. While she’s pondering the promotion, worrying about leadership, there’s a crazy medical issue and she takes charge, saving the callers and the 118.

- athena should have been promoted at work and either gone the route to be a detective (since that’s how they use her) or captain of a precinct (which would give her sway in the world) bc right now her job and plots don’t really make sense

- now that athena is single again, they should let her explore herself. maybe even move away from police work. i’d love to see her retire and maybe become a P.I. or something

- i think the structure at the 118 should be solidified a little bit

- chimney is captain, but i think it would be a good idea to officially promote hen to lieutenant

- eddie should pursue getting his official paramedic license which would be a good way to progress his character and create conflict without putting him through hell just for vibes

- buck is already sorta the probie trainer, but i think it would be nice to see chim actually lean on him to help with Harry and offer that trust

- Harry and Ravi bff activities on screen. dumb shenanigans that offset the drama

- atp we can’t go anywhere but Buddie and I think putting them together will open up new stories for both

- buck in therapy. make him face his demons. make the drama intimate and intense

- these characters canonically have disabilities (or should, like chronic pain) and i think exploring that would be awesome

- i want Harry to be ace and see him looking at his friends and family like bro they’re all FREAKS. me? i want a platonic partner to have fun with!

- ravi/may with harry third wheeling but they’re all very happy about it. may like: oh, you think it’s weird my boyfriend’s best friend is my brother who is my best friend and all three of us are on this date? what, you want me to kill my beloved little brother with a fork? no, that’s just our little guy. we bring him with us for vibes like a dog in a purse.

- i think chris needs a little plot, something simple that would show his maturity. maybe he asks eddie something like “why aren’t you and buck together if you love each other” then him exploring what love means to him and how to be part of a family. or maybe he has two friends (a boy and girl) and he talks to buck about how to recognise romantic feelings, how he knew he was bi. chris doesn’t have to be queer, but i think showing his curiosity and allowing him to explore would also show how eddie (and buck) have raised him and be interesting

- karen. i want more karen. i think they should have karen involved again, but let her flourish this time. maybe she’s gotten some notoriety in her field bc of the space save and she has to deal with minor, niche fame or a satellite crash that could involve the 118

- what happened to albert? don’t need him back, just curious if he’s okay.

- maddie and eddie conversations. i would love if eddie comes out to her first and she’s like… okay? i’m sure buck would eventually mention it. and eddie’s like oh no you’re the ONLY person who knows. then maddie is super weird around everyone and her and eddie are just like 👀👀 Exchanging Looks

- wildfire emergency

- redo the earthquake/another earthquake related episode

- bottle episode where, somehow, everyone is stuck at the station without calls or trapped there and going stir crazy OR they’re all like in an elevator/confined space and have to call someone to rescue them/use whatever limited resources they have to escape

- an episode or two that explores a different genre (documentary style, neo noir, sitcom, cheesy 80s B action film, 50s b horror movie, etc.)

- oliver said he wants buck to be reckless again and i think being reckless bc he doesn’t want eddie to be in danger and die before they can get married would be so funny

- buck being smart!!! he’s actually not dumb even though he’s a himbo. but like i think a few calls where he knows random info that helps or he has to do some quick math or even just a throw away scene of buck discussing a new obsession that’s like pretty technical would be amazing

- a call where all the women are super into chimney and dgaf about harry, ravi, buck, or eddie. they’re like He’s So Kind. He’s Funny. He’s Handsome. the younger guys are like and we aren’t??? the rest of the episode they’re all trying too hard and chim can’t figure out why they’re so off until hen breaks it to him

- gay club. all go to gay club. chim has the time of his life while eddie freaks tf out because can people tell hes gay??? omg men are talking to buck :((( but ofc buck has his Eyes On Eddie. harry and ravi get mistaken for a couple and like normal bros they’re like “that’s AWESOME, but this is my brother and we love gay people” “yes we’re queer but like not for each other” they have a secret handshake and teach it to a group of lesbians. hen somehow knows every woman over 40.

and listen. maddie has things to be grateful abt with eddie. he did rescue buck. he has given him a home and comfort and love. it’s just, like… maddie sees that buck is hopelessly down bad even if buck doesn’t. and this guy. he just holds so much power over buck.

so maddie maybe sorta isn’t the nicest she could be and says something like, “you may have been willing to search for him, but he would have died for you” bc i think even if buck didn’t explain everything that happened, he’d mention enough to her.

and eddie is like “id die for him too. that’s part of the job.” he means it beyond the 118. he means, our duty to each other, as Buck and Eddie, as chris’s parents, not firefighters buckley and diaz, is to live and die for each other.

but obviously maddie doesn’t like that answer and she’s like “he was willing to give up more than his life. he was willing to give up his identity. his future. coming home ever again. meeting someone who loves him back. seeing jee and nash and me!!! for you!!!”

and eddie wouldn’t get it when she says it like that but maddie would know this man is as thick headed as her brother so she’d say it over.

it might take her banging on his chest like a closed door and asking him if it’s really so crazy and she’d resort to military metaphors (“he’s always willing to fight, but for you he’d surrender”)
