Leading Towards Enlightenment

“Just because you show him who you really are don’t mean he failed as guardian. I mean what are you really protecting your brother from? You don’t seem that bad of a person to me.” Celine looked at the girl. “I fight with my mom when she home and I lie to my dad about what a happy family we really have, sometimes pretending is what I’m good at.” Celine shook her head her eyes moving to the floor, she was never this open with anyone. “It’s nice to meet you, Lani, I’m Celine.”

Lani smiled and looked down, there was lots she needed to protect him from. “He just raised me right, you know. He taught me to be a lady, and be polite and blah, blah, blah.” If he had known how rude she was to everyone she wasn’t sure how he’d take it. The girl smiled, “You might be good at pretending, but does it make you happy? Because if it doesn’t then what’s the point?” She reached her hand forward to shake Celine’s, “The pleasure is all mine.”

“Yes you do,” She said clapping her hands, “ I’m joking you don’t have to do that.” As much that sounds amazing she hated tradition shit and wanted to be unique. “We’re going to fittings for some designer store for you. I hate that I’m spending a lot but this is special and you’re my best friend.” Lani is the only one she told her rich secret too and she rather keeps it to her. Sisi has soo much money that she hardly even spent it on her but her friend because she wants too and Lani was one that didn’t take it for granted. “I am the savor of this school. I have tutoring like twice a week.”

Everything that Sisi did made Lani smile, she had always been there for her, and she planned to always be there for Sisi. “For me?” She questioned, “I thought we were going out to get you a dress?” She was all for shopping with Sisi regardless of who was getting a dress, but she sure as hell would make her get one if she had to get one. “Honestly the teachers here should praise your name, all these stupid kids around here would never have made it anywhere without you.”

As the gap between them closed, Gianna found her hands on the girl’s waist. She smiled into the kiss just for a moment as it took by surprise, but kissed the girl back sweetly not really wanting the girl to pull away. But as she did Gianna meet the girl’s eyes, her hands still resting lightly around her waist. “No, no I guess not.” She said lightly. 

Lani liked the feeling of the other girls hand on her hip,it sent shivers up her spine. “So can I get that number now?” She asked softly her lips still inches from Gianna’s. She let her hand slip down the other girls back and over her ass where she squeezed lightly and smiled. She reached into her pocket stepping away and cocking a smile handing her the cell phone. 

“I mean I shouldn’t really be talking when it comes to family, but shouldn’t your family be the people who see who you really are?” Celine asked she was probably one of the last people who should be giving family advice. Every time her dad came home she took off and all she did these days was fight because of her moms cheating. “Well, I guess you have a good look on life. Not caring what people think of you.”

Lani lowered her head slightly, “my brother raised me. I don’t want him to think he failed. I can admit I am not the greatest person.” She smiled looking up at the other girl, “like I said. To protect him.” She nodded as she spoke not know if the girl even cared or not, not that it mattered to her. “Honestly, it’s a lot less stressful when you don’t have to pretend to be something your not. You have to look out for yourself before you can worry about other people.” The girl offered a smile to the other, “I’m Lani.”

I always find it interesting what’s said about people in the bathroom stalls. How wild people’s imaginations can be. But everybody can be so negative with what they have to say! Especially the shit I find written about me. It’s never “Joey Gillenkerk has a sparking personality” or “Joey Gillenkerks is bound to do great things with her life”. Only about the subject of me and dicks. Either how I blew some random for my new pair or shoes or how many of em’ I can take at once. Someone must be impressed because my number has gone up from three to six within a month according to the handicapped stall by the locker rooms.

Lani looked over at the girl who had been speaking, “You act as if the things that are written in there are not true and the things you said are? Why would anyone put something nice about someone in the bathroom stalls? Did you see one nice thing about anyone on there? Probably not, besides, most of the things in there are from jealous bitches.”

“You know, being rude to others for no reason isn’t a personality trait,” She replied to the other girl. 

“Sorry to disappoint.”

“You call it being rude, I call it being honest and opinionated.” She said turning to the girl next to her.

Gianna raised her eyebrows as she heard the girls words, a smile showing on her face. “Oh yeah? Well please tell me this brilliant idea that you have to no longer make use strangers.” Gianna grinned, this time she took a little step closer. Hooking up with random people was something Gianna was somewhat good at, she had no problem sleeping with someone and never seeing or talking to them again, it was when people wanted more than that, that she wanted out. 

Lailani’s smile changed to a smirk, she wasn’t sure who this girl really was, which was exactly her type. Her eyes scanned the girl as she moved closer, sending shivers up her spine thinking of the possibilities. In one movement she closed the gap between the two of them and grabbed the girls face planting a kiss on her lips. She lingered for a moment before she pulled away and smiled widely, “I guess we can’t be strangers now.”

“Yeah, I wish someone had told those who had done it to my car.  I can only hope karma comes back to them just as much sooner than later.”

“Bastards,” Lani was infuriated thinking about someone doing this in general. “I’ll help you find them,” a playful smile filled her face. “I am sure we could come up with something we could to to get back at them for you.”

Rolling her eyes ignoring that comment. “That your personal opinion and it’s terrible.” She said faking a smile. “There name is none of your business.”

Her curiosity spiked, and she couldn’t help but inch closer to her and smile wider. “You know I’ll find out sooner or later, why not just tell me?” She asked cocking her head to the side. 

“Oh, I know that you’re going to be my date. I haven’t had time for guys anyways not since my past relationships.” She hadn’t dated anyone in a while and she rather keeps it like that. “I know, I just like hearing it. I got to figure out what store we can go it.” Sierra only told Lani that she rich and she kept it a secret that makes her the only girl she can trust. “Awee thanks. I’m doing this school a favor and tutoring the dumbs kids.”

“Do I have to be one of those dates that buys you a corsage and picks you up?” She chuckled slightly, knowing she would probably catch a ride with her to homecoming either way. “Well if we go to the mall, you’ll have many different store options, and if you don’t like any when we get there we can go somewhere else.” Lani loved how modest Sisi was about her money, know it was a secret, she had been more than happy to keep it for her. If Lani had been rich the world would know about it. “god this whole school is filled with isn’t it? You might be the only person that could save them.”

Celine looked at the girl like she was trying to figure her out but just couldn’t. “So you’re telling me your not fake, ever? You never fake a smile or say something just to make someone happy?” Celine asked the girl. “If that’s the truth, props to you because I think being honest all the time takes more guts then being just a little fake to people.”

Lani though for a moment, “I am only fake with my older brother. And I only to that to protect him from what I’ve become.” She had practically been raised by her older brother, and even to this day he saw her as an innocent 7 year old. “Anyone else, I don’t care enough about to protect from me, so why would I be fake at all.”

Gianna smirked as she watched the girl. She watched as her hand wrapped around her phone and met her eyes as she stepped closer, softly bitting the inside of her cheek. “I’ll have to see, I mean I don’t just hand my number out to strangers. Even if she’s pretty.” Gianna said her voice low.

Lani’s eyes sparkled a little, lips still pulled into a smile “I could think of a few things we could do so we are no longer strangers.” Her grin grew as the thought of Gianna played in her mind. To say the girl slept around was an understatement, she had been with plenty of different people in her life. Not that she had ever dated many people, she could count on one finger how many people she had actually dated.

“Is this you telling me to get lost or?” Celine asked as she looked at the girl, smiling back at her. “We all do, life right. I mean probably so not what you’re talking about but,” Celine started talking. “You walk up in the morning your having a bad day, maybe you don’t want everyone asking what’s wrong, I mean that gets annoying. So you fake a smile. Sure you probably should but you do. Because people get annoying.” 

“You can do what ever you’d like, it’s not going to change anything for me.” She smiled, as much as she did like talking to people, she enjoyed bugging people more. Lani listened as the girl spoke, feeling as if she almost had something to talk about. “Whats the point in being fake? Why should you have to suppress your emotions for the sake of other people?”

“Well, I do very much enjoy people between my sheets.” Gianna grinned back at the girl. “The name I can give you, its Gianna. But the number, now that I might back you work for.” She winked watching the girl pull her phone from her pocket. 

The brunette liked a challenge, it seemed when she couldn’t have something she wanted it more. “Gianna,” Lani purred as she clenched her hand around her phone, taking a step closer to the other girl. “What exactly would I have to do?” She questioned playfully.

Celine gave the girl a little frown as she listened to her words, “And why do you say that?” She asked meeting her eyes. “Yeah, it might be. But isn’t every place you go full of fake people?”

Lani smiled at the girl, noticing her frown slightly. “People just get on my nerves easily.” She didn’t care much for people who got offended easily, and it seemed most people these days always got offended. “Well, I guess that is the truth. Everyone is just putting on one big show.”

“Why are you actually right? But it’s not the name, its everyone laying around doing nothing when they say they’re having ‘fun’ how is that fun? But please, you can stop by whenever.”

Lani shrugged her shoulders and smiled, “while I guess you might be able to have fun just laying there if someone was under your sheets.” She smirked hoping the girl got what she was trying to say, “that is an invitation if I ever did hear one. You’ll have to give me your name and number than.” the girl smiled pulling her phone from her pocket handing it to her.
