These kids shed out super quick. Jungles & normals 100% het Jablonski super stripe. I'm extremely pleased by how much the Redrum cleaned things up. The quest for clean & colorful full stripes continues!
It will be neat to compare them to the RC het JSS kids due in two weeks. May they all be less ornery than the DH VPI T+ JSS kiddos.
The rest of the Kahl litter! I took so long one of them is in second shed, hah.
Prickly Pear - Kahl IMG arabesque keywest(?) (Boa imperator)
This boy's not going anywhere!
Another interesting litter dropped today! 9 live one still.
I grabbed the dam back in '21 to make Redrum Jablonski super stripe hets and it looks like jungle snuck in. I wasn't quite ready to introduce jungle to the SS project but at least it's easy to see! As expected the combination of an incomplete dominant gene that produces striping with a recessive stripe line produces hella stripes. The jungle het SS combo outputs full blown tri-striping typical of visual super stripes, with some minor differences (a wider center stripe, for one).
I'm looking forward to seeing how these guys develop, and will probably be hanging on to most of this litter.

'24 Denton x Meltzer boy fresh out of shed.
What made you choose to breed amaretto after her murder attempts? She did make some gorgeous babies!!!!
She's not an aggressive boa (those are incredibly rare, in my experience). She IS the most food motivated snake I have, and small things will trigger her into food mode very easily. I think her going after the boys in the past were almost all food triggers.
I bought her as a subadult back in 2014 from the originator of the line and he tends to feed heavy. She was a solid 6' at 3yrs. I don't feed as heavy, and I think maybe there were some unintended consequences there with feeding schedules that could've set something off in her brain.
This season I made sure she was VERY well fed going into the season, made sure to pull Maraschino before there was any food in the room, and was able to successfully avoid all her triggers. Mara was older, bigger, and more confident this year and was happy to give it a go, and she was content to let him.
I fed her through being gravid, but in the last month or so the babies drain them tremendously. The baby incident could've been that she felt she was too depleted. It could've been because she's an older girl and she's at a different point in her life than a younger snake. It could've been because I was there, and she associates me with food. I don't really know.
To sum it up - I believe I'm dealing with particular quirks specific to one animal, and not necessarily a generational behavioral issue.
Amaretto dropped this morning, Maxx Pink x Maxx Pink Argentines. 9 live, 1 still, and about 8 slugs. This girl is 15yrs old and this is her first litter.
There are a few circumstances I want to mention that are interesting, mostly for my own records - but on the off-chance if anyone has experienced similar, I'm curious to know.
To start, she has tried to kill both males I have over the last two seasons. This season she decided she wasn't interested in murder, and bred instead. I observed follicle building, but no obvious ovulation and she did not go through a post-ov shed.
She did fine as a gravid girl, I made sure she was well fed (usual schedule, prey item a size down). I typically feed the first 2.5 months of being gravid and fast them the last month or so. She did not bother with nest building and did not cruise for a spot to drop, but I was happy to note she picked the cool side hide to post up in.
This morning I found her sitting on the babies instead of coiled up nearby or around them like I typically see my girls do. I saw her nudge a baby, and then a switch flipped in her brain and she bit and wrapped it with her neck. Fortunately I was there, grabbed her, and she startled and dropped it. I removed her after and pulled the babies. I don't know if she ate any prior to me checking on her. It was definitely one of the stranger litter experiences I've had.
3rd litter of the season! Kemper girl x the big pretty boy with no lineage info. Sweet Pea dropped mid morning this morning and had a nice solid litter of ~18, 2 stills, 3 slugs. Some great looking tails and secondary markings on these kids. And a surprising number of connected patterns!
I know you're expecting a few more deliveries, but are there any babies from the litters so far this year that you're considering keeping back?
I will probably keep 1.1 back from all litters this season.
On the off chance that my super stripe girl goes, and assuming the Gandolfo line VPI T+ aztec is the sire... I'll probably keep that whole litter.

A nice little litter of 10 dropped early Saturday morning, 5/16/26.
From a KRP Sunglow keywest arabesque x IMG sunglow motley.
Check out the lineage here.
2026 Meltzer line longicauda, born last month.
Quite a bit earlier than expected - Red Sun likely evicted them early due to a slug and a still that had started decomposing inside her. Sourest smelling goo I've ever smelt. There were a few more slugs and stills in this litter than was typical for her, and a couple weird defects that were incompatible with life, but that's the way it goes sometimes.
Fortunately, Red Sun got everyone and everything out and is rebounding wonderfully - much to my relief!
Hello, hope you don't mind a couple questions!
When you're looking at your Het/Pos Het Superstripes or potential low visual superstripes, what are your indicators that you're looking for that arent the stripe?
Do you have any like defined things or visual guides that you have posted anywhere for those looking to kind of determine that?
I think this was sent ages ago, sorry! There is a range of expression for both visuals and hets.
The visual form for Jablonski super stripe is a tri-striped animal. The full expression of the tri-stripe looks like this: a solid dorsal pattern with 3 unbroken, internal, light stripes.
Oftentimes the tri-striping is on the upper body, and does not extend all the way down the tail.
Reverse striping is also possible on the back end.
More visuals, these I produced:
Just like any gene, there's a range of expression, so lower expression visuals may have more breaks in the pattern, chain linking, or a less full dorsal stripe, or a combination such that it's difficult to say for sure... and high expression hets can have just enough of the inner striping to throw doubt into the mix.
Some examples of ambiguous animals:
This animal has some tri-striping but it's lower body, broken, and has a lot of chain linking. I never proved her out.
This animal has some solid tri-striping on its neck and lots of broken pattern and chain linking down below.
In my current experience, JSS hets generally don't have any solid tri-striping. They tend to have chain linking, more broken patterns, singular striping, solid tail stripes, a couple connected saddles, and/or abstract patterns inside the dorsal stripe.
These are some examples of high expression hets (obviously hypo will influence the look, as well):
One of the DH VPI T+/SS kids, very typical single stripe going on:
OT hypo aby poss het (prob het) SS:
'Poss' het sibs - the one on the right could potentially be a low expression visual, but I'll have to prove her out to know for sure.
Lower expression hets tend to have a couple connected saddles, or some sort of backend or tail striping.
Or they can look normal.
There's a lot of work to be done on this project still. The main issue with it, currently, is that a handful of folks have taken ambiguously striped/patterned animals, did not prove them out to be visual JSS, and combined them with other pattern amplifying genes (*cough* jungle *cough*) to produce high expression stripes. That they then label and sell as visual JSS, with no mention of jungle. No one unfortunately would know the difference unless they saw the lineage.
Too many people are quick to label a nice single stripe het or even a half striped animal as a visual, as well. Recessive projects take years to curate, and getting an animal in that was sold as a visual (or a het) that doesn't prove is not only massively frustrating, but can be a costly setback.
So if you have an animals that you're uncertain about, just be prepared to prove them out if you want to know for sure.
Some JSS pairings I've done, if you'd like to see more:
OT hypo harly het SS x SS
OT hypo harly het SS x ultimate aby
OT hypo SS x VPI T+ Motley
I should have at least two litters of 100% hets this season from different pastel girls, as well.
Marmalade - Gandolfo VPI T+ sunglow jungle (Boa imperator)

Will there be longi babies this year?
Hopefully!
It's looking good for Dentons, and Meltzers. And maybe Russo x Dentons.
