Buddy x Dot headcannons?
Okay. Not my best work, but I hope you guys like these. (Also I’m just gonna age Buddy up to 19 for this since my Dot is 23.)
-Took a long time to become a couple because Buddy wasn’t willing to make a move and Dot was kind of playing the playground at the moment. They did, however, become extremely close as friends.
-Dot would listen to Buddy ramble about everything he knew about cartoons and art (even taking notes- which Buddy finds kind of weird, but hey, it means she’s paying attention!). Dot has plenty to add to the conversation as well, talking about art history and whatnot. Buddy is rather impressed by her intelligence and also enjoys listening to her ramble about whatever she’s currently reading about.
-Buddy is autistic, and Dot is sensitive of that, doing things like speaking for him on days when he’s having more trouble than usual with it. It wasn’t something that either of them acknowledged, just accepted as a part of their interactions.
-The two eventually ended up exploring the depths of Joey Drew Studios together, as they did in canon. This time, they made it out alive and came back the night after with Norman Polk and a camera. Suffice to say, Joey got put in jail and the ink creature got captured.
-Listening to how Dot was getting her heart crushed over and over by the men she was dating made him realize that he had feelings for her. But, he was awfully different from the men she usually dated, and he didn’t want to risk hurting their friendship. Dot was also developing feelings for Buddy, but didn’t want him to feel like she was only using him as a rebound. In the end it was Buddy who wracked up the guts to ask her out. And, well, it worked.
-from then on, they basically kept their regular relationship as friends and just added couple stuff onto it. They’re a very casual, chill couple. Also they could definitely be friends with Wally.
I feel this so deep… Sounds like something that would happen to me, except I'd be Buddy (100% agree, he definitely gave me HEAVY autistic vibes; it was painful how much I related with him) and I actually purposely have a “friendzone first” policy on romance, pft… 😝
