Hello everyone! As you might know this year has been rough for me. Had to plan my mom's funeral unexpectedly, relying on the kindness of my family and strangers to pay for it, lost my dog also unexpectedly (the vet told me she'd be fine after juicing me for 600$+ and she died the day after :)))), can't talk to my therapist anymore because the program I was in for free counseling stopped, lost my job thanks to covid and not getting it back for a while because I worked in the travel industry. Anyways I am really really depressed. I've done everything I can to delay the payments I need to do but in the past months but I've accumulated about 900$ in debt. ( I blame the veterinarian mostly:)))). I desperatly need the money. I'll get some from the government soon but there was a mix up and they didn't send me the right amount and I was counting on it. It's gonna take a good while before they send it to me. Please help me, a mentally ill, queer young adult to get back on my feet...

My name’s Magda and I’m a Modern Languages and Linguistics student from Poland (tho I go to uni in the UK). I used to have a langblr a few years ago and now I’m coming back to find some motivation before I start my second year at uni.

My languages:

Polish (native)

English (fluent, C1)

German (kinda fluent, B2)

Spanish (lower intermediate? idk started studying at uni a year ago and it’s all over the place)

I told a friend “I was invited to a party” But I said it like this “Ich war zu einer Party eingeladen” My friend told me it was wrong that I should’ve said “Ich wurde zu einer Party eingeladen” Why can’t I use “war”?

Actually you can say both!

The difference is that "Ich wurde zu einer Party eingeladen" is a passive construction whereas " Ich war zu einer Party eingeladen" isn't, in this sentence "eingeladen" is just an adjective. I hope this helps you!

✨✨ Language progress really doesn’t come in big leaps, it comes in tiny tiny little steps. It’s really hard to notice that you’re making progress, but I promise you are. You do notice sometimes though, maybe how far you’ve come over a year when you revisit a text you can now totally understand it, whereas before you could just pick out words here and there. You’re doing so well and every little thing you learn is getting you closer and closer to knowing the language. Don’t give up, keep going!! ✨✨
