I understand why jacob made this change in the show but one of the hands down funniest parts of the book is in the club scene when ilya, mid-revenge crashout, tries to get the girl he was groping in front of shane to come back to his hotel with him and she pats him on the cheek and says aw that’s sweet babe but I’m here with my boyfriend he likes watching guys make out with me. lmfao that girl is having herself a fun n sexy night out at the club ilya rozanov CANNOT relate

actually have nothing funny or snarky to say about episode 5. this is just actually the most moving and heartwrenching television i've ever witnessed and it changed my life. it changed so many people's lives. sometimes i'm like the hr hype is lowkey a little too insane and then i watch this episode and i feel like the world writ large actually underreacted to how legendary this episode was. i too would actually soul bond with francois, hudson, and connor if i witnessed this live in the dead of winter.

like i'm sorry rr/tierney ate with this....... like the idea that someone else coming out being the impetous for you yourself taking a big leap of faith too is so like. what being gay and in a community is about. like you just literally don't know you aren't the only one if someone doesn't come out and do something so ridiculously brave. sorry i'm being so earnest about this because i'm writing this mid tears. like that thing jacob said about how scott's coming out needs to be outlandish and loud to contrast the like quiet and tender coming together of shane and ilya. the problem with this show is that it's literally that good.

if i met shane in middle school he'd be really good at sports and the fastest runner in my grade and because of that i'd have such a horrible crush on him that he wouldn't reciprocate at all. and then i'd check facebook 15 years later gay married to a masc lesbian that looks suspiciously like him only to find out that he's being mass canceled by society for having sex with a guy who looks like he belongs in porn (complimentary).

I'm about to say something that might be controversal. Troy/dallas would have been just as big of a RPF ship in universe as Shayden or hollanov. I don't even think it would depend on if they knew about the homophobia or the allegations or not. I'm not even an rpf person or a person who follows the nhl but it doesn't take more than five minutes to find recent (posted in the last week) fic about players who are known homophobes or have sexual assault allegations.
