Land of Plenty

All gardens are works in progress at any age. Here are some constructed and planted form 2018 to 2020.

And the gardens continue to grow...

It's been a spell since we've Tumbl'd, but we've been busy. Here are a few examples of cedar and black locust construction from 2020.

Raised bed perennial garden. Custom “shadowbox” fence panels constructed using white oak branches, western red cedar framing and bamboo screens. Custom gates built with red cedar balusters and 1x5″ lumber. 3.5′x4.5′ cedar planters (built from kit) fit as alternating panels in the fence. 4x4′ raised beds behind fence constructed from 4x4″ PT lumber.  

Retaining wall constructed using rough-cut 8x8“ Massachusetts-harvested black locust timbers. Anchored using deadman construction. 

Play garden under construction. Top: Balance beam constructed with Massachusetts-harvested black locust including 2x8″ rough cut lumber and raw logs. Middle: Arbor constructed with de-barked locust branches. Bottom: Platform built with chainsaw-split oak and locust logs suspended on a black locust lumber frame.  

Contoured floating deck constructed with 1x4″ rough cut Massachusetts-harvested black locust decking, 2x8″ black locust framing, and 1x6″ Western cedar fascia founded on tube-cast concrete footers. Sanded, weathered finish. 

Raised beds constructed from Massachusetts-harvested 3x3″ rough-cut black locust lumber. Screens framed in 1x3″ western cedar. They are latched on the interior to fold down for ease of access.
